      独立寒秋，湘江北去，橘子洲头。看万山红遍，层林尽染；漫江碧透，百舸争流。鹰击长空，鱼翔浅底，万类霜天竞自由。怅寥廓，问苍茫大地，谁主沉浮？

      携来百侣曾游，忆往昔峥嵘岁月稠。恰同学少年，风华正茂；书生意气，挥斥方遒。指点江山，激扬文字，粪土当年万户侯。曾记否，到中流击水，浪遏飞舟？

舸（gě）：大船，也泛指船

怅（chàng）：惆怅，失意，不痛快

廖廓（liào kuò）：高远空旷，借指天空

峥嵘：卓越，不平凡，山势高峻

遒（qiú ）：刚劲有力

遏(è ）：阻止，抑制

【译文】

      深秋寒意渐浓，我独自伫立在橘子洲头，眺望着湘江向北流。万千峰峦层层秋树全都染上了红色。碧水澄清百船竞渡，广阔天空鹰矫健，清澈江水鱼畅游，万物都在这霜降时节争取自由。面对浩瀚的宇宙我思绪万千。我要问：这苍茫大地的盛衰是谁在主宰着呢？

      回想过去那不平凡的岁月，我和同伴们携手到此游玩，商讨国家大事。我们青春年少，风华正茂，虽有书生意气，却是斗志昂扬。我们评论国家大事，写出充满激情的文字，视那些军阀官僚如同粪土。可曾记得，我们在那可以阻遏飞舟的大浪中奋勇争游？

  In late cold autumn,I stand alone at the head of the Orange Island,looking at the Xiangjiang River flowing northward. Numerous hills and layers of woods are all colored red. Hundreds of ships rush fast forward in the clear river. Eagles are flying in the vast sky and fishes are swimming in the clear water. All creatures are struggling for freedom in the frosty weather. I think a lot about the vast universe and I’d like to ask who dominates the ups and downs of the boundless earth.

    I recall the past uncommon years and months. I used to come here with lots of my companions still in the bloom of youth. Energetic and vigorous,we commented on state affairs with bookish spirit. Excitedly we wrote passionate and encouraging words and considered the mighty as no more than muck. Do you still remember we swam in the rapids whose waves could repress swift boats?
