Ok, so I am leaving Shanghai soon like two week and a half later, but I am actually really happy about it. Not that happy because China is still my hometown but Idon’t feel welcome anymore. The food in Shanghai is like the BEST among theworld but hey, why would my Hometown became so dirty and so reckless? That’s a hard question to answer but we’ll find out.
Lately I found out so many people have asking me and my parents about me go to school is US, and seems like that’s what matters the most, not what their kids think of.
Maybe the parents should started to think that if they already put their kids in to many outside classes in China and they force kids and teenagers to work really hard to be the number one in the class. But have they really thought about if the kids wanted to? All they care about was these money to pull in was a good basic thing for the kids when they grew up.
And now they knew that it’s a popular choice to put kids in American school to get better education. American style is to let the students decide what they do which is totally different from China. Now these kids that were much closed to outside and all they knew was to “work hard” in front of their parents to get some little goods. Fortunately I am not that kinda kid. Howare they supposed to get in to the American culture if that’s what they havebeen learning for?!
There’sa girl in my American school, she’s Chinese and in eighth grade. She doesn’thave a single American and yet she does not work on any of the communication tothe other friends in school, she doesn’t get a good grade too. Even I knew mostof the eighth grader and made a good friend ship between us because I knewfriends is very very important to you when you’re in a different country to go.
Well, things are always two sided. There’s another girl in our grade that is Chinese and yet she worked hard in her grade and made some friends. She was also nominated the ninth grade leader for the next semester. That’s the different. It depends on the adaptive capacity that you have but also that you actuallywant to make some more friends. Same example for a boy that used to be in the same class with me, when he went to San Fransicisco, he didn’t have a single person to talk to which is very sad.
Remember do not push these innocent kids to go to schools that they don’t want to. Ifthey don’t wanted, fine, maybe they knew that go to USA was maybe not best for themselves. Don’t give the things that you think it’s good to the kids becausethey have not decided whether they should believe in themselves or not. So let’s be patient and there are so many people went to school in US. The report hasbeen show us that the people go to schools in US has rising so much from the last five years, especially Chinese.
