Gross Regional Domestic Product refers to the final outcome of the production activities of all residents in the region over a certain period of time. It reflects the change of modern industrial structure and the role of education, science and technology, finance and other tertiary industries in the social economy. In 1993, China officially took GDP as the core index of national economic accounting.
I downloaded the data that about Cross Regional Domestic Product across the country of the four quarts in 2017 from the official website of the State Statistical Bureau. And after disposal, all provinces and municipalities are divided into seven regions: North China, Northeast China, East China, Central China, South China, Northwest China and Southwest China. I want to show the change in regional GDP in our country from visual charts, and compare the differences in economic development in different areas.
(Note: In this analysis, "the whole country" does not include Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.)

GDP of All Regions of China in 2017The broken line graph can directly show the development of GDP in the same region over time. I chose the grouped broken line graph to show the development of trend of GDP in different regions. The slope of the broken line reflects the rate of change.
As can be seen from the figure above, the GDP of various regions in China generally shows an upward trend in 2017. Among them, the GDP level of East China is far ahead of other regions, and the growth rate is also significantly faster than other regions. The development trend and GDP level of North China, Central China and South China almost coincide. Northeast China and Northwest China has a lower GDP than other regions, and the two regions had similar GDP levels in the first quarter, but by the fourth quarter, the GDP level of Northeast China was significantly higher than that of Northwest China.
GDP of All Regions of China in 2017The stacked bar graph is a kind of deformation of the bar graph. It would split each column to display the data under the same type, and it could show a large category contains data for each classification. The stacked bar graph can directly show the national GDP in the four quarters of 2017, and the GDP proportion of different regions in the same quarter.
As can be seen from the table, China's GDP grew rapidly in 2017. Compared with the first quarter, China's GDP in the fourth quarter roughly quadrupled. East China has always been the main force of China's GDP.
GDP of All Regions of China in the Fourth Quarter of 2017I used a circular graph to give a more detailed and intuitive picture of the proportion of regional GDP in the fourth quarter of 2017. The circular graph is a deformation of the pie chart.
The hollowed out central part of the circular graph shows that the national GDP in the fourth quarter of 2017 was 5.6 trillion yuan. It can be seen that the GDP of East China is more than one-quarter of the total GDP, and it is the highest in the whole country. The GDP of North China, Central China, and South China is next, and the proportion of these three regions is similar, followed by southwest China, and finally Northeast China and Northwest China. The gap between regions is wide, for example, Eastern China's GDP almost six times of Northeast China in this quarter.
It can be seen from the several figures above that level of GDP in our country is booming, but between region and region there are still a huge gap cannot be ignored. The government should spare efforts to push the backward area of economic development, and economically developed areas are supposed to support backward areas.
