How to Handle Collisions in U.S？

Recently we are studying about the California traffic rules. I learned that collisions are different from accidents. Because usually accident implies that it occurred without any one's fault or negligence. But collisions are quite different, usually it was caused by several reasons.

First, unsafe speed. Second, driver distraction. Third, drive on the wrong side of rude. Fourth, improper, turns. Fifth. violating  the rights of way. Sixth, violating stop signals and the signs.

What should we do if we are involved in a collision?

Don't panic. First, you must stop, in case somebody may injured or killed and they may need your help. If you do not stop, you may be convicted of, hit and run, then you might be in severely trouble.

If anyone is hurt, you should call 911. If nobody is injured or killed, you should move your vehicle out of traffic line.

Second, you need to show your driver's license, vehicle registration certificate, and insurance to the police and the other driver.

Third, You need to make a written report to the police of california highway patrol within twenty four hours, if anyone is killed or injured in the collision.You also need to make a written report to the department of motor vehicle within ten days.

How to Handle Collisions in U.S？

In other situation, if you hit a parked  vehicle, you need to leave a note with your name, telephone number, address on it, and you need to report to the city police,or the c h p, in unincorporated area. If your parked vehicle rolls away and  hits a property or other people's vehicle, you need to try to find the owner of the property and report to the police.

Road kill. If you kill or injure animals, Call the local humane society or police for help. Don't try to move or leave animals to die.

You should reporting the collision to dmv in 10days in two situaitions. First, more than one thousand u s dollars damage was made. Second, anyone was injured or killed. You need to fill a report with dmv, using a sr1 form, C h P will not make this report for you, whether you or not you cause the collision.

Your driving privilege will be suspended under two conditions. First, if you do not make the report. Second, the suspension could be up to four years, if you do not have an insurance, or sufficient insurance to cover the damage. But if you can provide  evidence that you have enough financial responsibility, it can be shorten.
