定语从句和关系副词

和关系代词一样，关系副词也可以引导定语从句。例如：

This is the place in which I was born。
=》This is the place where I was born。

介词+关系代词 in which 可以用关系副词where 代替。

关系副词的种类：
1）表示地点：where
This is the place where we met
We went to the place where we were able to camp。
This is the house where we live。

2）表示时间：when
I remembered the day when he was born.
1939 was the year when Word War II broke out.

3. 表示原因：why

I know the reason why he went to US。
This is the reason for which（=why） he was late。

4） 表示方法：how
注意一点how不能与先行词the way 一起连用，二者都表示方法，放在一起重复。

This is the way in which she solved the problem。
This how she solved the problem。

非限制性定语从句

关系副词也可以引导非限制性定语从句

I went to Tokyo， where I met a pretty girl。
He went to China，where the war broke out。
