Netflix currently has about 150 million subscribers globally, and Disney+ is projected to recruit 60 to 90 million users. In a shareholder letter, Netflix welcomed competition from Disney and Apple. The company wrote, “both companies are world class consumer brands and we’re excited to compete. The clear beneficiaries will be content creators and consumers who will reap the rewards of many companies vying to provide a great video experience for audiences.” Netflix argues that the pie will be bigger in online streaming.
