从零岁启蒙到终身学习

    本周小结:
    这周的工作任务一如既往的繁重,本职工作还没有精细完成,额外的英国课程就暴露出各种问题亟待处理。雪上加霜的是申请英国学位必须提供大学证书翻译件,所以要迁就大学办公时间,请假一天半去办理。更不要说各种生活上工作上的突发状况和一地鸡毛。总的来说,时间完全不够用(没有在12点前休息过),精神很差,没有高效运作的能力。

    本周思考:
    从哇哇落地开始,我们就踏上了一生漫长的学习之旅。幼稚婴孩的头脑和心灵是一张白纸,虽然自带特殊气质,但是所有习惯和性格,对周遭世界的理解,必定是在和身边人互动的过程中一步一步习得的。所以当我们抱怨孩子有各种坏习惯和不良行为的时候,请认真观察思考,我们给孩子提供了怎样的接触环境,他们又是从谁的身上学会这种表达的。绝对有迹可循。

    如果从小我们放弃选择环境,放弃对自己的了解,放弃对更高目标的要求,那么我们将任凭他人在自己的人生白纸上涂鸦。A说这样是对的,是吗?那就这样吧。B说你应该这样处理,也许吧?也行。C说你这样错啦,错了吗?那改吧,对的是怎样的?我们一步一步放弃了对所有事情的控制,放弃了思考能力,放弃了好奇心。如同扯线木偶一般,任由各种评论来操控自己的人生。

    因此,我们重视教育,重视人生建设,应该从娃娃抓起。教育是什么?除了教给孩子们这个世界已经被整理出来的知识和经验,我们还是培育孩子内在的力量。浩如烟海的知识和经验都是别人的,当我们没有内在力量,不知道如何甄别筛选为己所用,不知道如何在纷繁复杂的世界安身立命的时候,一切有形的无形的知识与规矩都是枷锁,重重压得我们惊慌失措。只有一个人能从内心升腾起对生命的敬畏,对世界的好奇,对世事的洞察,才有可能遵循生命的感召去追寻人生使命,才有可能在瞬息万变的世界里安之若素。

    从娃娃时期开始教育,就等同于学习各项琴棋书画数理化英吗?我看不是。

    过早强势引入小学知识,超越孩子的理解能力水平,会过早磨灭孩子的学习兴趣。当孩子把学习看作是苦差的时候,他们的意志力很快被越来越难的知识打击和消磨到一点不剩。当他们长大后表现出厌学情绪,请不要惊讶。因为从小他们就没有感受过获得知识的快感。学习就是在折磨生命。

    学龄前的孩子,需要大人们保护他们天生的探索世界的好奇心。只要在不伤害孩子自身和他人的情况下,放手让他们去接触体验尝试,天生的求知本能会引领他们不断探索。只可惜很多父母恐惧孩子受伤,害怕孩子浪费时间走弯路,一味地过度保护,打击孩子尝试新鲜事物的勇气。久而久之,孩子会觉得随波逐流听之任之挺好的,再没有人总是批评我指责我。做什么都没有意思,什么都提不起兴趣,唯独看看手机打打游戏还有点激情。这样的青春期问题真是太普遍了。当父母的难道没有反思过自己十几年的教育方式有问题?

    学龄前启蒙可以是全方位多层次的。非常考验父母的能力水平和知识体系的完备程度。简单罗列一下(详细写会变成一本书,建议大家阅读大J的启蒙书):语言能力,理解能力,表达能力,数学启蒙,思考能力,质疑能力,情商能力,社交能力,自控力,专注力,记忆力,计划及整理能力,感知力,观察力,想象和创造能力。比照自己,如果自己都没有关注到这些方面,我们又如何引导孩子锻炼这些能力?

    育儿就是育己。你的三观里藏着孩子的未来。虽然大部分父母在当年都没有接触到全面的启蒙开发,但是在几十年人生经历里都已经塑造了完整的三观。也许三观讲得多了变成了一个感觉,大家并不知道里面具体讲什么东西。其实是世界观,价值观和人生观。这么一列出来,大家心里就有数了。我们应该引导孩子思考他们和这个世界的关系,启发他们寻找一切事物的价值和意义,进而塑造自己对人生的价值的初步想法,思考应该如何度过这一生。可笑的是,相当一部分家长都没有思考过什么是三观?什么是正确的三观?自己都没搞懂人生,又指点孩子过所谓的优秀人生?

    抽丝剥茧分析下来,孩子的最好榜样和启蒙老师就是父母。当父母用开放的心态接受新知识,与时俱进,就能体会到孩子当下的感觉。了解孩子所面临的困难与诱惑,才能设身处地引导他们。因此要让孩子内生动力学习更好地在世界生存,父母首先要终生学习。如上所说,学习不单单是学习知识,还是习得各项能力,更要不断更新迭代观念,从多层次跟上时代的发展。在中国,大家普遍认为大学毕业就是学习时代的终结。其实恰恰相反,大学毕业之后,我们进入更大的图书馆研究更大更错综复杂的命题,可能终究一生都无解。但我们依旧每天要追寻在路上。

    于我自己而言,当我发现教育是一个值得深究的大问题时,一切零碎的知识已经不能满足我求学欲望。所以我选择申请研究生学位,希望获得完整的教育学学习。周末在写申请文书的时候,一个问题接一个问题地叩问自己内心。终于,我找到了自己的答案。虽然困难,但内心告诉我,只管勇敢去追。

    1. What is your rationale for applying to this course, and why do you think you are a suitable candidate for a place on the course?

    I would like to apply to this course because I need to improve myself by pursuing a systematic study of Education after being a staff in high school for eight years.

    I am suitable for this course because of following reasons. First of all, I have found my passion in Education field after years’ experience of interaction with students and parents. Furthermore, life-long learning ability is important in fast-changing world and thus I would like to keep challenging myself. Last but not the least, I will apply the new knowledge learnt from this course to daily Education situation, which will also benefit my study in this course.

    1. What elements of the course are you drawn to, what made you choose this particular programme?

    Flexible timetable and online study attract me the most because I work full time and have a two-year-old daughter. Also, based on my current need, I would like to study the model of Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Years Education, Effective Leadership and Change in Education and Leading Learning. All these courses are beneficial to my current role as a homeroom supervisor, exam officer and young child mother.

    1. What previous experience, either practical or academic, do you have that is relevant to the programme you are applying to?

    I have been working in an international high school that offers Cambridge IG and A Level courses for eight years, and I have experienced different role as a student affairs officer, an Academic assistant, a principal assistant and an exam officer. These experiences are highly relevant to the Master of Education course.

    1. What are your future aspirations, either career or academic, and how you see this programme benefitting these aspirations?

    In the near future, I would like to establish my own business about parenting and children potential development. Since I have been communicating with high school students for many years and most adolescent problems come from their families and childhood, I can see the urgent needs to educate our parents and empower our children in early age, especially in China. Therefore, I would like to study leading learning methods and concepts so that I can better serve and support them.

    1. Please explain and demonstrate your motivation for applying to this course?

    Firstly, I am a young girl’s mother who would like to provide her the most appropriate Education when she grows up. To achieve this purpose, I must be open-minded and keep learning the best pedagogy in the world.

    Secondly, the difficulties I met in daily working life push me to dive deeper in Education world. Our children are facing a rapid changing world, so the experience and knowledge we have learnt long time ago might not be suitable for them. The only way to keep up with the world is to stay hungry and stay foolish.

    Thirdly, to prepare myself for this course, I have completed the TESOL certificate offered by American TESOL Institution and received High School English Teaching Certificate provided by Chinese Education Bureau. Lately I start teaching English to a small group three lessons per week.

    All in all, I am desperate to study in Master of Education.

    1. What attracted you to want to study at the University of ****?

    The University of **** is famous for its Education major and some of my colleagues are its graduates. Moreover, the flexible course customizes my needs as a full-time employee because I could not afford the tuition fee if I stop working. Financial burdens are huge for further Education and life expenses. I am glad that University of **** could offer this course online to overseas candidate.
