    1.      Words and phrases

    1)    The play is only a couple days away, and I have no idea how we're going to pull this thing off.

Pull sth off: to manage to make something happen.

e.g. Do you think you could pull off this deal?

    2)    I was peeking through the curtain to check out how many people showed up to see the play.

Peek: To look or glance quickly.

e.g.: She peeked at him through a crack in the wall.

    3)    He must have found out I was singing, and he couldn't resist the chance to see me embarrass myself.

Resist: to oppose; refuse to accept or comply with

e.g.: I can't resist the chance to go to Dubai.

    4)    You'd figure that someone whose job it was to sit on the stage and do nothing could just suck it up for one performance.

Suck up: To accept and deal with something one finds unpleasant.

e.g.: I have sucked it up and move on.

    5)    The play was supposed to start at 8:00, but it got delayed because Rodney James had stage fright.

Stage fright: Acute nervousness associated with performing or speaking before an audience.

e.g.: The young actress was suffering from stage fright and could not say a word.

    2.      Sentences

    1)    Archie Kelly tripped over Rodney James and chipped his tooth because he couldn't stick his arms out to break his fall.

e.g.: My son tripped over the toy car and chipped his tooth because he was wearing a costume and couldn't stick his arms out to break his fall.

    2)      I have been able to keep that nickname quiet for five years, and now all of the sudden the whole town knew it.

e.g.: I have kept the secret from him for a month, and now all of the sudden the whole team knew it.

    3.      Dairy

After reading today's “Dairy of Wimpy Kid”, it reminded me about my experience as a host at a Children's Day party.  I was a six-grader at that time. Before the party start, I was trembling because I had a stage fright. I peeked through the curtain to check out how many people were sitting there. Oh man, there were mountains of people. To try to calm down, I pretended myself as a princess and imagined those audiences as my servants. Sure enough, it works. I had a pretty good performance at that night. Nothing is impossible.
