在看一些电影,电视剧时,我们有时会看到这样的情节:侦探紧闭眼睛,大脑内呈现出一座庞大的房屋,很快就搜寻到了他需要的线索;当被别人询问时,他会说自己开启了“记忆宫殿”。
When watching some movies and Tv series, we sometimes see such a plot: the detective closes his eye tightly, presenting a huge house in his brain, and soon finds the clues he needs; when asked, he would say he had opened a “ memory palace”.
“记忆宫殿”的使用可以上溯至古罗马时期,盛行于欧洲中世纪。当时印刷术还没有得到普及,很多知识完全依靠人脑记忆,于是一些学者便采用神奇的“记忆宫殿”来记忆大量知识。
The use of “memory palaces” can be traced back to ancient Rome and prevailed in the middle ages of Europe. At that time, printing was not widely used, and a lot of knowledge was completely memorized by the human brain. Therefore, some scholars used magic “memory palace” to memorize a large amount of knowledge.
按照一定的方法,每个人都可以搭建属于自己的“记忆宫殿”。首先,选取一处我们熟悉的地方,比如家,学校或者爱去的店铺等。将选取的场所描述得越具体,空间越大,这座“记忆宫殿”储存的信息也就越多。
In a certain way, everyone can build their own “memory palace”. First, choose a place we are familiar with, such as home, school or favorite shops. The more specific the location, the more space, and the more information the “memory palace” will hold!
拥有“记忆宫殿”后, 就可以开始向其中储存信息了,我们可以想象自己按照一定的路线在“记忆宫殿”中行进,将我们需要记忆的东西“放置”在我们经过的地方。设定情景画面,声音甚至触感,直到自己完全记住为止。熟练后,我们就可以流畅地运用掌握的知识,并且能够随时取用。
Once we have a “memory palace”, we can start to store information in it. we can imagine ourselves walking in the “memory palace” along a certain route, a “place” the things we need to remember in the places we pass by. Set up a scene, sound or even touch until you remember it. When we become proficient, we can use our knowledge fluently and have it readily available.
