Daily diary — 19th June

    Wow , I didn’t write anything in the previous three days . What was I doing in those days ? The answer was that I was completing the story line of Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 . At 11 o’clock last night , I watched the last cut scene of Witcher 2 . Then I could connect the story of Witcher 2 and my favorite Witcher 3 . When I found I could string together all the stories of Witcher series in a right order , from the original novel to Witcher 1 , Witcher 2 , and then Witcher 3 . An extensive Witcher world appeared to me .There were hundreds of people in the whole Witcher world and they had different notions and beliefs . They struggled and fought for their own dreams . It’s so similar to our real world .   

    In Witcher 1 , the important character was Alvin . I prefer to believe that Alvin took the place of Ciri . The whole game was more like a discussion about family education . Alvin was raised by Geralt and Shani ( I chose Shani rather than Triss , because Shani was a doctor like me ) when he was a young kid . Geralt imparted his own opinion towards different groups to Alvin , including the Squirrel Party , Order of the Flaming Rose , humans , elves and dwarfs . I was the game player so I needed to make a right selection in the game , I chose the answers which I thought were  beneficial to Alvin’s recognition of the world . But unluckily , Alvin became the final boss , an extremely racist . He answered Geralt’s questions with what Geralt had imparted to him . Ultimately , Alvin was killed by Geralt . I was shocked by the ending of the story .

    Suddenly , I fell into a state of self-doubt and I wondered if I was wrong , should I be responsible for the change of Alvin . I made the right choices but were they really right ?

    My another comrade in the army taught me a lesson in 2015 . I became a vice squad leader through my hard work but I was still full of student’s innocence , I hoped to be a kind man and build a cohesive squad and I was so brash that I told all my comrades that once they met any difficulties they could ask me for help . Weeks later , the comrade denounced me as a hypocrite publicly in the squad meeting . I recalled that I refused his requirement when he asked me to fetch water with him for I was playing chess with a comrade in other squad then . He was so righteous and indignant that I forgot I was the man who did most of our daily tasks and I was the most hardworking man in our squad . All of my comrades joined the army the same year and I became a vice squad leader one year later . I didn’t bully anyone and wanted to make friends with them , I tried to do what staff sergeant Shi Jin did in TV series Soldiers Sortie . I tried to practice what I preached , but there always were some people who were dissatisfied with what I did .

    Facing such a censure , I didn’t know what I could say , it’s a so tiny thing but it’s so indisputable in logic . I was afraid of facing his resentful eyes and I couldn’t find out the reason why he treated me like that . I apologized to him publicly and never mentioned that I would promise them their requirements when they asked me for help .

    All these related to education , was Geralt wrong ? Was I wrong ? A stronger person tried to help and teach a weaker person but gained a bad ending , where was the crux , how to solve the problem ? I had no idea and I needed to learn more things to find out the answer .

    I spent 19 hours in completing the main storyline of Witcher 2 . The character modeling in Witcher 2 is the same as the counterpart in Witcher 3 , more beautiful than the modeling in Witcher 1 . So I had a feeling of familiarity when I played the Witcher 2 game . The only drawback was that the plot was too short and it had only 3 chapters .

    The story revolved around Geralt and his retrieving of lost memory . I chose to help the squirrel party and experienced an adventure to fight for freedom . I felt ashamed when I was found by Vernon Roche in the game for Roche helped me a lot but I often refused his asking for help and even helped his enemies . If I put this dilemma into our real life , it looked like my two good friends were enemies of each other and they wanted me to make a selection between them . I chose to help the squirrel party arbitrarily in the game because I knew it was only a game and I was allowed to make mistakes . But in the real world I would like to lose neither of them , maybe I would escape from the situation , give up the right of choice and lose both of them eventually . I was good at running away when facing a dilemma and I dared not to imagine such a scene .

    The similar example was that a kid had to make a choice between his father and his mother when his parents got divorced , though they argued and fought with each other everyday , they were his parents . When the problems didn’t appear , we could lead a happy life without concerns and fears . Once they occurred , we were overwhelmed .

    Letho told Geralt that he protected Yennefer voluntarily to repay Geralt’s kindness , for Geralt saved Letho’s life when he was in danger of death . The similar scene appeared in TV series The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber . Zhang Wuji escorted Yang Buhui to Kunlun Mountains . What a pity that CD Projekt Red didn’t make this story into game and add the plot into Witcher 2 . If they did , I could feel Yennefer’s unique charisma in Witcher 2 . She was a great mom to Ciri and a strong wife to Geralt , wasn’t she ?

    I finished all the 3 games and enjoyed a spiritual feast . Thanks for modern technology and the creators ! I didn’t recite my English words in the previous 3 days and I had to do more everyday to catch up with progress .
