The Olympic Games will be held in our country in four years' time. As a great many people will be visiting the country, the government will be building new hotels, an immense stadium, and a new Olympic-standard swimming pool. "They will also be building new roads and a special railway-line. The Games will be held just outside the capital and the whole area will be caleed "Olympic City". Workers will have completed the new roads by the end of this year. By the end of next year, they will have finished work on the new stadium. The fantastic modern buildings have been designed by Kurt Gunter. Everybody will be watching anxiously as the new buildings go up. We are all very excited and are looking forward to the Olympic Games because they have never been held before in this country.

另外普及一下，《新概念英语》是1997年由外语教学与研究出版社和培生教育出版中国有限公司联合出版的一套英语教材。出版时间：1997年10月1日。所以教材应该在96年就在筹划撰写，那么4年后也就是2000年举办奥运会就顺理成章了。

Immense is like the previous pair in stressing size more than weight; where it refers to material masses, the word suggests something dramatically or surprisingly of large scale.

Thoughts: 每日精进就是确认自己的朗读首先自己挑不出问题了（朗读+复述）。
没想到在held发音上卡住了，平时都是常用hold主动形式，忽略了hold的被动形式/过去时态的读法。
另外immense一词平时使用较少massive, enormous, hefty, huge, immense, ponderous, vast 这些近义词要注意区分。
