练习读英文诗17: Poems by Emily Dickinson
Poems by Emily Dickinson
Life
This is my letter to the world,
That never wrote to me, --
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majestyHer message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!Success
SUCCESS is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need. Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell the definition,
So clear, of victory,As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Break, agonized and clear
