Children who playtruantfrom school areunimaginative.A quietday's fishing, or eight hours in a cinema seeing the same film over and overagain, is usually as far as they get. They have all been put to shame by a boywho, while playing truant, traveled 1900 miles. Hehitch- hikedto Dover and, towards evening,went into a boat to find somewhere to sleep. When he woke up next morning, hediscovered that the boat had, in the meantime, traveledto Calais. No one noticedthe boy as he crept off. From there,he hitch-hiked to Paris in a lorry.The driver gave him a few biscuitsand a cup of coffee and left him just outside the city. The next car the boy stopped did not take him into thecentre of Paris as he hoped it would, but to Perpignan on the French-Spanishborder. There he was picked up by a policeman and sent back to England by thelocalauthorities.He has surely set up a record for the thousands of children who dream ofevading school.

注意：/n/是个鼻音、浊辅音，依靠声音震动发声，当/n/出现在音节结尾处时要略微延长，以防止吞没末尾的/n/,把ten /ten/错发成/te/是不正确的。/n/和/m/是同一组浊辅音，所不同的是/m/是"闭嘴音"，而/n/是"开口音"。
