Race is always a sensitive topic. People avoid talking about race may because they are afraid that they will attack others. However, we do not talk about race does not mean we treat everybody equally. It is easy to say “we don’t see color” but it is hard to act consistently to what we say. Like Mellody Hobson said in the TEDTalk, the best way to solve a problem is not to ignore it but to be aware of it. From my personal experience, I sometimes tend to hide my culture and background to being included in a group. However, that does not necessarily solve the problem. In my understanding, being color brave is to start a conversation about people’s culture, background, and experience. We should be an initiator and also a good listener.
