Salary和wage的区别

    看英语文章的时候,有时候收入用salary表示,有时候用wage表示。比如以下两个例子:

    例子1:The average clinical consultant salary ranges from $58,412 to $106,510, according to Payscale. (例句来源

    例子2:The minimum wage in New York City is $15/hour.

    这两个词有什么区别?

    Salary:指一个薪酬周期内付给雇员的固定的薪酬,比如按周、按月、按年计算的薪酬。通常这种薪酬模式是没有加班费的,是固定薪酬。

    Wage:指时薪,每小时薪酬,发工资的时候按实际工作小时数计算工资。如果这种薪酬模式雇用的员工超时工作或在节假日工作,正常应有加班费(美国是time and a half,1.5倍)。

    所以,如果你老板跟你定好annual salary是120000,但是经常每周上班996,也许你要算一下你的hourly wage划不划算了。

    Tom just came back from an interview with ABC Mart. The manager told Tom that his salary would be $400/week if he takes the job. The job is a full time position and it does not pay for any over-time if incurred.
