Baseness is a passport for the base,
Honour an epitaph for the honourable.

北岛的这篇诗句很有意思，看过几个版本的翻译，尤其是第一句的Baseness is a password for the base，以为baseness只是音译完全跟卑鄙沾不上边。却发现baseness 的翻译比debasement似乎更好。虽然最后一句没有用五千年，但是也显示出了历史的意味，而且英文读起来朗朗上口。
