Compared with "People are what they are and it's hard to alter one's nature", I personally find "Personalities are partly innate but partly learnt" is infinitely preferable. The fact that I am a very superficial and fidgety person has been going on for over 25 years. I hate to bring it up but I'm really not a good listener and every time I encounter those who share different voices than mine, I'd feel rather uncomfortable and easily get an impulse to go out for some air.
What never changes in the universe is to change. After making up my mind to become a teacher in the near future, I resolve to develop a more open-minded character just for my own benefits. As it does require enormous patience and courage to be a qualified teacher getting along with kids. Plain and simple, it wouldn't be a picnic to change even a little bit, but I'll give every effort to make it. You know what, it works!
To start with, I try to keep my eyes and ears open so that I could better understand what people are saying and what they really want. For instance, kids are adorable but also cunning creatures and if you wanna "capture their hearts", you must learn to communicate with them based on their logic. They can easily see you through if you're just trying to fool them around and you could only end up having their eyes roll at you. Last weekend I helped my friend take care of her son just for one hour, it turned out to be fun but I have to confess that I was so exhausted in the end!
