This term we are going to play Oliver Twist. Oliver Twist is about what happened to the poor people in the Victorian period when the Poor Laws were implemented. We started to learn the songs and get familiar with the script from winter vacation.
In the second class after school, we started to learn the background of Oliver Twist from the original work. First, we could increase our vocabulary and learn grammar. In addition, we could better understand the feelings of those poor and helpless people at that time and interpret them better.
After two or three weeks of studying the book, we started to study the script. After reading the script together for several classes, we finally started casting for the part on Friday.
After the role was set, everyone began to recite their lines and draw them with highlighters with great excitement.
On Tuesday, when we discussed what each of us was responsible for and what we should do, the rehearsal officially began.
When we rehearsed the play, the rules of the class were not strict. Sometimes a classmate acted very funny or did a very funny action, and we would laugh for a long time.
Later we played the children steal things, our class began to steal things, to see who can quietly steal other people's things.
We still had not finished the first time. Suddenly, the progress of our class that day was much faster than before. However, at noon after class, the teacher told us that we had delayed for a week, which was really a false alarm.
The last time we played Les Miserables, on the last night, we frantically made up our lines, and by the second day of the performance, none of us had forgotten our lines. Maybe it was because of the lesson we learned from the last time, so we remembered our lines very quickly this time...
That's what we've been doing for two weeks.
