而千禧一代（Millennials）千禧一代出生于1981年至1996年，宛若在一个完全不一样的世界长大。经历过“9·11”事件、全球金融危机和校园防枪手演习带来的精神创伤，又目睹美国国力相对衰落，这一代被描述为务实的理想主义者：希望让世界更美好，但在行动方面又没有婴儿潮一代的长期热忱。他们是在数字世界中如鱼得水的第一代，但又是记得在实体图书馆中做研究的最后一代人。
