Well begun half done.
It's not easy to write something now because lots of excuses are available. But I need to say no to laziness and delays. Without output, input may be less meaningful.
From now on, let's read the book written by an amazing woman Maye Musk. I'll write after I read a chapter.
Now let's read the introduction and chapter one together.
Introduction
She introduced her family and her career briefly in the introduction. She's lucky because her parents have something wonderful. "Live dangerously--carefully" is their family motto which makes her always curious and willing to explore. Even though she has ups and downs in her life, she said that if you have a good attitude and you make a plan and take a chance, even Mars is possible.
Chapter One Silver is the new blond(Life keeps getting better)
In this part, Maye shared her modeling career with us. The color of hair is a significant symbol of being aged or beautiful. She used the change of the color of hair as a timeline.
Maye with brown hair started modeling as a teenager in Pretoria because of her friend Lettie. She still modeled in university. After she got married, she gave birth to 3 children in 3 years. With each child, she added a few blond highlights to her hair. Surprisingly, she started modeling again after she'd had 3 kids when her hair was completely blond.
When she was 31, she moved to Durban as a single mother. Since the lack of money she started doing hair herself and it became various shades of blond and orange. At 42, she moved to Toronto and got a phD while she modeled and taught, keeping current in both professions. In her forties, she was courageous to refuse mattress ads(metaphor).
In her fifties, she confronted even more twists and turns than before. When she went gray, she had no work for 6 months. Her hair looked terrible. There was a patch on top and blond hair at shoulders. But at that time, Time Magazine would give her a shot. She signed a boutique agency where she was warmly welcomed. Maye got an editorial in Toronto which was remarkable because old women were not wanted for editorials. After that, bookings started coming in. She realized her dream "One day I'll be in one of those". There she was: on a fifteen-foot-tall billboard in Time Square for the first time.
When she turned 67, she was everywhere: in Time Square, on the subways and in every airport in America. At 71, Maye was the biggest.
Who knew that things would take off when she went silver? I DID! When I read the starting part, I know that she would be a successful woman because no matter how tough life may be, she tried her best to do whatever she could. Just as she said:"You can always find a way. You can always make another plan." She loved learning as well."It took time for me to learn, and I'm still learning!"
She doesn't care about the color of hair any more. On the contrary, she's unique to have white hair which helps her get more modeling jobs. She doesn't worry about age now because she is too busy having fun.
What about you? Do you pay lots of attention to your hair? Do you worry about age?
Enjoy life and never lose your heart!
