To a skylark

Percy Shelley was a famous poet from Britain 200 years ago.He finished his poem “To a skylark” in 1820.Let’s analyze 1-2 passages(8-9).

In passage 8-9, Shelley compare skylark as a poet&high-born maiden. “Light of thought” “palace tower” is the noble place skylark give its songs and poems.It uses these to express its love and sympathy to the world.Also, skylark show its beauty and animate of life state.We all know that Shelley lived in an extraordinary era. Politician and religious limited people’s thought.Shelley himself was suffering from such torment.

So, even there are “wrought” “soothing”, he still wanted to simulated people’s vitality and live in freedom, Just like “With music sweet as love, which overflows her bower”.That means music can be heard by all creature.The the world would be colorful instead of dead.

Shelley thought there were no things can match skylark. I think he is right.Maybe skylark can’t be discovered(hidden), but if we mention it, it will make your world bright.Maybe we can’t find it, but we can be it in the process of “singest”.

Passage 8-9 also use some rhyme.Like “hidden” and “forbidden”, “though” and “wrought”, “hour” and “bower”.It give poem a kind of beauty and good rhythm. Also, we can divide one sentence into 3 parts and read it.
