    - something that encourages you to do something激励,鼓励

    e.g. here is no incentive for people to save fuel.

    verb

    - to stop yourself from doing something, especially something that you want to do克制,节制,避免

    =desist

    e.g. They appealed to the protesters to refrain from violence.

    e.g. Complaints about poor food in schools have become a familiar refrain.
