    with your bare hands, without using a weapon or a tool.

    *rise to fame over night/swiftly

    *eminent, an eminent person is well-known and respected, especially because they are good at their profession.

    *in his day: somebody's/something's day, a successful period of time in someone's life or in something's existence.

    --Game shows like that have had their day(=were successful in the past, but are not any more).

    此外常用的表达还有make somebody‘s day, to make someone very happy

    --Hearing her voice on the phone really made my day.

    *he was adored by rich and poor alike, adv. used to emhasize that you mean both the people, groups, or things that you have just mentioned.

    --I learned a lot from teachers and students alike.

    alike: adj.very similar

    My mother and I are alike in many ways.

    alike:adv. in a similar way

    The twins were dressed alike.

    Great minds think alike (used humorously when you and another person have had the same idea).

    Sentences:

    In his day, Mendoza enjoyed tremendous popularity. He was adored by rich and poor alike.
