It only took about a year after the book appeared for people to start asking me when I was going to do a second edition.

For a long time, I really resisted (抵制，抗拒)the idea. I liked the book the way it was and thought it worked well, and since it was about design principles and not technology, I didn’t think it was likely to be out of date anytime soon.（我不认为它很快就会过时。）

Usually I’d pull the consultant/therapist（咨询师/治疗师） trick of asking them what they would change, and the answer was almost always, “Well, I guess you could update the examples.” Some people would point out that some of the sites in the examples didn’t even exist anymore.
