Social Ecological Model and Physical Activity, Young Ho Kim, Seoul National University of science and Technology, KAHPERD International Sport Science Congress, Korea, 2014(101)-abstract
·It is broadly well-recognized that many people around the world are insufficiently active to obtain the many health-related benefits of physical activity. Physical activity itself is a complex behavior that is affected by the interaction of multi-dimensional variables.
·(theoretical frame) The social ecological model(SEM) emphasizes that physical activity is influenced by a complex interaction of multiple factors (i.e., psychological, social and environmental).
·In this regard, limited research has been conducted into the relationship between physical activity and its multiple levels of influence in our field, and the available studies have been primarily undertaken in western societies: such research is lacking in other cultures, such as Korea, where the promotion of physical activity and identification of its related factors have only recently gained attention.
·(purpose) This presentation aimed to increase our understanding of the significance of social ecological constructs to explain physical activity and promote physical activity research based on social ecological model in Korea.
The social ecological determinants of the satisfaction and the utilization of primary care by chronically-ill patients in Xiamen, Lele Chen, Yanbing Zeng, YaFang,
·(object) Primary care is increasingly important to build a strong healthcare in China with the development of healthcare reform. Xiamen mode stands out among the pilot cities and is viewed as an effective mode in managing chronic diseases and promoting community health services(CHS). The aim of our study is to examine the social ecological factors (personal characteristics, personal behaviors, Interpersonal process and primary groups, community factors, and public policy) influencing the satisfaction and the utilization of community health service (CHS) from first-contact care, and outpatient service utilization (OSU, contact and frequency).
·(methods) A cross-sectional survey was conducted face-to-face in 5 community health centers(CHCs) from Xiamen city. The data were presented as rates. To perform bivariate comparisons, we used the chi-square test for categorical variables and two-sided Wilcoxon test for the frequencies of visits. Binary logistic regression, ordered logistic regression, and two-part Negative Binominal Distribution Model were applied to analyze the social ecological determinants of the choice of first-contact care, satisfaction, and utilization of outpatient services.
·(results)The questionnaire was completed by 1972 respondents with a response of 89.6%. Survey results showed that ……
·(conclusion) Xiamen mode is more effective than the traditional mode and it promotes the ratio of first, patients ‘satisfaction, and outpatient services utilization, which provides a reference to managing chronic diseases or improving primary care among other cities in China. In addition, health education has been well carried out in Xiamen especially for the patients with smoking, and BMI>=28.
