本文主要讲因为睡过头，一天的计划全被打乱（时态：一般过去时）
一般过去时：用来描述发生在过去的事情。
1、有表示过去时间点的词或短语:last year、yesterday、6 years ago......
2、动词过去式
①动词过去式的规则变化：
A:动词结尾加ed:
play+ed=played /pleɪd/ (eɪ是双元音，所以ed发d的音)
work+ed=worked /wɜːkt/ (结尾k是辅音，所以ed发t的音)
B:本身e结尾的动词直接加d:
love+d=loved
C:辅音字母+y结尾的，变y为i加ed:
study→studied
D:结尾是辅音+元音+辅音的，双写结尾辅音字母+ed
stop→stopped
②不规则变化（一边学习一边积累）
本课涉及到的几个：do→did、oversleep→overslept、leave→left、have to→had to、take→took、get→got、eat→ate、is→was、are→were、put→put、drive→drove、go→went、buy→bought
正文：
Kathy usually gets up at 6:30, but this morning she didn't hear her alarm.
（usually:表示通常，是经常发生的动作，所以这句话用的是一般现在时）
（but:但是，表转折，后面的内容是重点）
（一般过去时的否定句：主语+didn't+动词+其他 【 eg: she(主语) +didn't+ hear（动词）+ her alarm（其他）】.）
As a result, she overslept.
（as a result: 表示某个原因而导致的结果）
She didn't get up until 7:00, 30 minutes later than usual.
（not...until...: 直到...才...）
（比较级+than usual:比平常更... eg:early than usual比平常更早）
As a result, she didn't have time to cook breakfast for her children.
译文：凯西通常六点半起床，但是今天早上她没有听到她的闹钟。结果，她睡过头了。她直到7点才起床，比平时晚了30分钟。结果，她没有时间为她的孩子做早餐。
Today Kathy and her kids left home early.
They usually leave home at 7:30, but today they left at 7:15.
They left early because they had to buy breakfast on their way to school.
（have to:不得不，因为某种客观原因迫使不得不做某事。/eg: I have to get a new job because my boss is terrible.）
（on one's way to:在谁去哪里的路上 /eg: on my way to the restaurant在我去餐厅的路上）
译文：今天凯西和她的孩子很早就离开家了。他们通常7:30离开家，但今天他们7:15离开。他们很早就离开了，因为他们不得不在上学的路上买早餐。
It usually takes 45 minutes to drive her kids to school, but today it took longer.
（it takes(sb.)+时间+to do sth.做某事需要花费某人多久的时间）
It took them longer because they stopped for breakfast along the way.
（stop for...: 为……做短暂停留/ eg: Let's stop for lunch.）
（along the way=on their way在路上）
It took 15 minutes for them to have breakfast.
They ate at a little coffee shop along the side of the road.
译文：开车送她的孩子上学通常需要45分钟，但今天要花更长的时间。他们花了更长的时间，因为他们在路上停下来吃早餐。他们花了15分钟吃早饭。他们在路边的一家小咖啡店里吃饭。
After eating breakfast, they got back into their car.
（after+Ving）
On most days, the traffic isn't too bad in the morning.
But this morning, it was much worse than usual.
（worse than usual:比较级+than usual结构→比往常糟糕，worse是bad的比较级，前面的much修饰比较级worse,进一步强调两者的比较）
The cars were moving very slowly.
As a result, it took them longer than usual to get to school.
译文：吃完早饭，他们回到车上。在大多数日子里，早上的交通并不太糟。但是今天早上，情况比往常更糟。汽车开得很慢。结果，他们花了比平常更长的时间去上学。
One of her children got to school on time, but the other two were late.
（on time：准时的）
They were late because their schools are farther away.
（far:比较级是 farther / further）
They were both about 10 minutes late to school.
译文：她的一个孩子按时到校，但另外两个迟到了。他们迟到是因为他们的学校离得远。他们都迟到了大约10分钟。
When Kathy finally got home, she cleaned her house as usual.
（as usual:和往常一样）
She vacuumed the living room and cleaned the bathroom.
（vacuum:(v.)用吸尘器清扫、vacuum cleaner吸尘器）
Then she talked with her friend on the phone as usual.
（then:接着，然后，是一个连接词）
When she finished talking with her friend, she got into her car.
She put the key into the ignition （点火器）and tried to start the engine（引擎）.
（try to do sth.:尝试做某事）
（start the engine发动引擎）
But her car's engine didn't start.
Her car battery was dead, so she had to call for help.
（the battery is dead电池没电了）（call for help:打电话求助）
译文：凯西终于到家了，她像往常一样打扫她的房子。她用真空吸尘器打扫客厅和浴室。然后她像往常一样和她的朋友通电话。当她和朋友谈完话后，她上了车。她把钥匙插进点火装置，试着发动引擎。但是她的汽车发动机没有发动。她的汽车电池没电了，所以她不得不打电话求助。
After getting a new battery for her car, the engine started.
Then Kathy drove to the mall to meet her friend.
She arrived at the mall an hour late, but her friend was waiting for her.
（arrive at+小地点：到达某地）
（wait for sb./sth.:等……）
（was waiting for her：过去进行时，发生在过去，表示过去正在发生的某个动作，）
（过去进行时区别于现在进行时，现在进行时发生在当下，表示现在正在发生的某个动作。）
They had lunch together, and then they went shopping.
（go shopping:购物）
They both bought new shoes and some things for their kids.
Kathy bought a new tie for her husband.
译文：给她的汽车换了一块新电池后，发动机发动了。然后凯西开车去购物中心见她的朋友。她迟到了一个小时，但她的朋友在等她。他们一起吃午饭，然后去购物。他们都给孩子买了新鞋子和一些东西。凯西给她丈夫买了一条新领带。
It's now 3 o'clock, and everything is going as usual.
Kathy doesn't want anything else to go wrong.
（go worong:出岔子）（go as usual:一切照常）
She wants the rest of the day to go as usual.
She doesn't want any more surprises.
And tomorrow, she won't oversleep.
She never wants to oversleep again.
译文：现在已经3点了，一切都像往常一样。凯西不想再出什么差错了。她希望今天剩下的时间像往常一样过。她不想要更多的惊喜。明天，她不会睡过头。她再也不想睡过头了。
