    The recent study shows that the unemployment ratio of Chinese

    university new grads can approach to about 30 percent, and the number is rising

    every year. Besides this finding, if we make further research on this study, we

    can find out that the majority of these regretful students are majoring the

    seemly‘useless’majors such asphysiology or arts. Does it mean that students should make a secondconsideration when they choose their major in universities? I think so.

    /*第一论点是说 工作岗位决定了选择*/

    As the science and technology develops, there are more and more

    vacant job positions related to science and technology in the job market while

    it seems like that the vacancies of the job related to liberal arts remain at a

    low level in recent years. Students who major in those so-called hot fields

    such as computer science, electrical or electronics engineering or the civil

    engineering find jobs easily while the students who major in liberal arts

    fields such as politics, literature or arts hardly find satisfactory jobs even

    though they have made great efforts.  It seems quite unfair to those students who have

    devoted themselves for 4 years’ study in those unpopular fields. However, the society

    is under the rule of supply and demand. Because of the significant job growth

    in the fields related to science and technology, students should consider

    studying in those fields if they want to get employed as soon as possible. The

    employment tendency depends on the job market which students have to follow. It’s never easy to create a jobvacancyratherthan fill in one, right?

    /*第二论点是说 兴趣为什么不是决定性因素*/

    Also we need to admit that not many students know what exactly themajor about or whether they would be good at it when they are just going toattend the universities.Not until they get further

    study in the university do they promote the cognition of their majors.Sothe so-called interests in a certain major or field may be just some naive understanding.Take myself for example, I had no idea of what my major is before I went to thecollege. And now I have no interests in my major at all. Though I haveinterests in painting, I don’t have the gifts in arts soI give up and turn to find a field which I both have interests in and am goodat. I know this choice is the best one I can make for my future careerdevelopment. Actually, the choice of major in universities is so important thatit can change one’s whole life. What I want to emphasize is that the students’interests of some subjects should not be a decisive variable when studentschoose a major.

    /*第三论点是说 兴趣可以发展成业余爱好 不一定要是studying fields*/

    Aside from job hunting, establishing some interests is also a waythat promotes their chosen subjects. We all know that Einstein is a greatphysicist who raised the theory of relativity. When he was stuck indifficulties in his working area, he played violin for relaxation. And themelody helped himwork outthe solutions.Students who can’t major in the fields they like the

    most can develop their interests in their part time. In addition, establishing

    some hobbies can be vital stimulation in one’s careeras well as the best way for one to have relaxation.

    It cannot be denied that it is a regret thatstudents can’t take the subjectsthey are most

    interested in as their major in university, however, students can deal with it by choosing some courses they

    have interests in or take part in some clubs. After all, students need to

    consider their employment once they graduate. So I believe students should consider studying fields related to the subjects which are hot in job market even if they are more interested in other subjects.
