The unprecedented heralth crisis, Covid-19, had disrupted everyone's private as well as working lives almost overnight. Instrcuthed by the local goverment, we Chinese all isolated ourselves from others at home voluntarily. However, socio-emotional communication keep us human and we are eager for freedom. Finally I was released on Mar. 16th.
It was a sunny day. I got up very early and took a deep breath when stepping out the building. What a sweet day! The sunlight pierced through the flowing cloud and tenderly touched my skin. I felt alive again!
The face mask and green healthy code on the Alipay are a must for going out. Buses were free to be taken at that time since the government started to encourage people to use public transportion. There was no traffice jam at all and I arrived at the company in no time even at this usual rush hour. Of course, riding a bicycle must be better for keeping safety during this pandemic period. Body temperature was recorded and a new face mask was offered before going into the office.
People were not allowed to talk to each other within the distance of 1.5m. Anyway I could have eye contacts with colleagues who obviously had the same enthusiasm. Sanitizers were everywehre in the company and people were reminded to wash their hands frequently. What delighted me most was the double-screen PC which gave the feeling that I had just moved from a hut to a big castle. I'm afraid the laptop really constrained an office lady's efficiency.
What's more, the Canteen got my Hamlet's "to-be-or-not-to-be" Question solved. No choice is the best choice. Lunch was no longer a headache for me! But every dining-table allowed only two persons, with a dam-board set in the middle to prevent people from talking to each other. After lunch tht body tempreture records and face masks were renewed and our cleaner disinfected our deskes afterwards.
Though there were lots of limits in the office, I really enjoyed my first day there after the long-term lockdown.
