英作文8: 熬夜/打電動/學習
I used to fool around at school and didn’t pay attention while studying. Feeling conceited, I always thought little of studying; I felt all those subjects were too easy for me. I indulged myself in online games, which I derived so much pleasure from. One day, seating myself at the desk, and pretending that I was learning, I couldn’t help falling asleep at that time. My thought drifted away and I fixed my eyes on the screen of the computer; then, I followed my heart and started playing a game. It was not until I pressed the start button that my mom came in. What she had seen made her enraged, and I couldn’t utter any words of explanation for this embarrassing sight. Feeling guilty, I was wondering how my mom would punished me. But to my surprise, she composed herself immediately; she stood beside me and had me resume my game.
After I finished the last round, terrified, my mom said she was so proud of me that she had such a brainy, clever daughter. To my startlement, she encouraged me to do whatever took my fancy, and said that it would delight her a little more if I spared some time for my studying. I knew how much she thought about my academic performances, but it was the first time that I received her compliment. What she had said was so touching, though “ do whatever take your fancy” might not be her real intention. After then, I managed to quit playing online games, and started to pay attention at class. It was my mom’s uplifting words that encouraged me so much, and I did want to live up to her expectations. I had a huge progress in terms of my test scores afterward; my mom said she was exceedingly proud of me, and I was sure that she really meant it.
