SONNET 18 by William Shakespeare
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st;
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
應該將你比作夏天嗎?但你比它更可愛也更溫柔:強勁的五月風可是會傷害到小嫩芽。
況且盛夏存在的時間太短暫了:來臨的時候光芒四射,離開後大地就黯淡無光;
所有美麗的事物終究會凋萎,無論是外力所致或是自然而然地失色;
但是你的盛夏不該逝去,你擁有的年華也不該消逝;
死神不能吹噓你已隨他而去,當你存在於不朽的詩篇中;
只要人們還存在,這首詩就會永流傳,你也會終將不朽。
