Bee venom (BV) was reported to havedifferent effects, such as antibacterial, antivirus, and anti-inflammations indifferent cells. And the main component of BV, Mellitin, is more active against Gram-negative bacteria. In this report, the researchers evaluated the antibacterialefficiency of BV. They use three different concentrations of BV to act againstsix bacteria and use gentamicin as positive controls by using the discdiffusion method. The results show that BV at three different concentrations are more effective against Escherichia coli(E. coli) O157:H7,Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhyimurium. Additionally there are no noticeable effects against other bacteria for BV at any of the three concentrations.
