Spring Festival Cake is my favorite spring festival food. Whenever it reminds me I would think of my happy childish life.

The Cake in My Memory

New year cake is a kind of food made of glutinous rice flour, which tests exquisite and glutinous. It was my sweet food during those poor days.

Only during the spring festival, maybe we could have a chance to eat cakes. One year my mother got a glutinous rice ticket, we can buy glutinous rice with it.  My elder sister and I were looking forward to buying glutinous rice earlier, and we would eat glutinous rice cake. After buying glutinous rice, my mother took it to a friend’s home with my sister and I because they had a mill which can grind down the glutinous rice to glutinous rice flour. It was a heavy snowing day. We didn’t care about the snow when we went back home because we had glutinous rice flour now. We all felt happiness.

After arriving at home we dried and stored it. On the new year eve, my mother  put the glutinous rice flour to be glutinous rice cake.  Mother fried the cake with rapping with eggs. My sister and I waited for mother while staying in the quilt. Mother came to room with the fried cake and said: ”cake, cake, every year higher. Wish our life will be better and better.” My sister and I ate the cake with sugar, while firecrackers beating. This become the happiest life in my memory.

Forty years ago, can you find a happier life then this one?
