外文诗歌类型035：curtal sonnet

sonnet：十四行诗、名头挺大的
curtal: cut short 的意思，缩短、裁切
curtal sonnet 的意思，是浓缩版十四行诗。
全诗十一行，所以也可以叫做十一行诗。
这种类型是由19世纪的英国诗人杰拉德·曼利·霍普金斯创造的，但他只写了三首。

Gerard写这首Pied Beauty的时候，也许他本人是在赞美上帝创造了这多姿多彩的世界。但是，这个题目放到中国，看起来像是“花大姐”，更糟糕的，可能像是“花姑娘”。所以，读起来有一些诙谐，甚至黑色幽默，变得和上帝毫无关系。

Glory be to God for dappled things —
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced — fold, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.
