刚刚看完哈佛积极心理学,感触特别深。Tal在课上多次提及Marva Collins并以她作为自己的榜样,确立了自己教书的梦想。
趁这个机会,我再次拿出了这本书。之所以是“再次”,是因为2015年我就买回来了这本书也是我买的第一本原版书。但只看了前面一点点,生词太多。现在来看我的英语水平有所提升,而且在也是一名老师,接触的学生多了更想知道如何激励学生。
这本书比较薄,二百多页的小册子,打算慢慢读。今天只看了序和前言。
大多数人都认为现在的教育质量不如从前,1982年这本书出版的时候Marva认为教育质量大不如从前,到了1990年这本书再版她认为教育更差了。教育系统里的每个人都有责任,而不是责怪现在的孩子不好,恰恰相反Our children are not the culprits; they are the victims. 我们也需要培养dedicated的教师。教育就是draw out the best in every student.
Marva对学生有一种天然的信任,她相信每个人的潜力。
All children are born achievers.
What all good teachers have in common is that they set high standards for their children and do not settle for anything else.
这就是“自我实现的预言”,老师怎么看学生学生就会如何看自己。提醒我不要给学生贴标签,不要有差生的叫法。
“There's no secret,”she answered. "I just deal honestly with children. They knew I don't turn my nose down at them. They listen to me beacuse I'm not some outsider who comes over here nad talks down to them about what it is like to be poor. I'm here working with them all the time. If everyone in the neighborhood treated these children with the same consistent interest, the children would do for them what they do for me."
