伊阿宋取金羊毛的故事，其实闻名已久。
为什么要去取金羊毛呢？
因为有位伟大的先知跟他说，他本应该与国王Pelias共同统治希腊。伊阿宋如此这般便去跟国王讲了，国王不想平白分半个国家出去，于是说：也不是不可以。你去Colchis从国王Aetes那里把金羊毛取回来，证明你配得上，那半个王国就可以属于你。
“You must go on a quest. Bring back the Golden Fleece that was taken from our kingdom long ago. I am an old man, and too old to go on this quest. But if you succeed, it will bring honor back to our kingdom. Bring back the Golden Fleece from King Aetes of Colchis," King Pelias tol him, "and half my kingdom shall be yours."
伊阿宋很高兴，就乘上了那艘阿尔戈号（Argo）大船，并招募了50个勇士了发了。Hera很喜欢伊阿宋，一直在奥林匹克山上关注着这一切。临行前，她还给伊阿宋和50勇士都喝了一瓶增加勇气的药水，这样，他们就能无所畏惧地抵抗一路上可能会遇上的所有危险。
航行很多天之后，他们来到一片叫Lemons的陆地。这里住着一群凶残而好战的妇女。但她们看到掌舵的伊阿宋又帅又勇敢，立刻变得温柔而平和。她们提供了吃的和喝的，还用新织的衣裳换下他们身上的破衣裳。然后，她们送他们继续前行。
The women saw Jason at the wheel of the great ship. He looked so strong and brave that the women became gentle and peaceful at once. They offered the Argonauts food and drink. They also offered newly woven clothing to replace the torn clothes they wore. Then they sent the men on their way.
