The idea of making a RC passenger plane came into my mind a long time ago, approximately when I was in primary school. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough resources and background knowledge to make it a reality. However as I grew up I became more wise, more patient and more organized, which made me consider - why don’t I take this CAS experiment as a chance to accomplish my childhood dream? So here we are. My goal to construct a Boeing 777-300ER, and these are my expectations when I finish:
Able to fly:
This is pretty much my most essential expectation - to be able to fly. To achieve that I have to make the plane as light as possible, and the thrust of the EDF as great as possible. I choose to use balsa wood and 5mm Depron foam to build the main frame, and glass fibre as well as carbon fibre to strengthen the structure. As for the thrust I selected the 80mm EDF by FMS, 100A ESC and 8000mah batteries.
Remote control:
The plane must be able to be controlled by a set of controller and receiver. I chose the DX7 7channel transmitter and AR8000 receiver to guarantee the complete control of the plane. On the other hand, the servos which control the surface on the plane like the horizontal stabilizer and flaps must work properly.
Retractable landing gear:
The set of landing gear(One front gear, two main gear ) must be able to retract back to the fuselage of the plane. The front gear has two wheels so I think it won’t be a problem to fit into the nose of the plane; but however, the two main gears contain in total 12 wheels, which means I will have a bad time organizing the space in the fuselage of the plane. But no pain, no gain.
Detailed handcrafting and fine looking:
The goal is to recreate Boeing 777-300ER, which means on the overall view the more alike the better; however it will certainly be different on the inside as I would like to challenge myself for new things.
