Circle Of Life
Woodland weary autumns eves leafy canopies,
Starlings fix a buzzards stare, beneath defeated trees,
Hypha fingers kiss the bark, on aged green velvet spawn,
as rabbits frisk on heather banks and livestock greet the dawn.
Diamond dewed hugging blades golden ray reprieve,
Barley bows to southern winds, cowering in the breeze,
Vines of veins promise evergreen, on rotting junction clefts,
Raven, rook and century flight for skies the murders left.
Aerial army insecta swirl dancing spoil for kills,
Frenzied beaks swoop and scoop, above auspicious hills,
Victory caws in misty fields, a frantic feathered chatter,
Shattered by the village bells and farm machining clatter.
With songbird serenades marking summers decay,
Hidden inner overgrowth, with the young and afraid,
Fauna, fear and collective paths, hectic consequential,
Here amidst the birth and death, survival incidental.
