A winding brook flows swiftly in the middle of the scene. The current even makes some waves here and there, showing a hint of the power of water. The brook seems limpid, reflecting the blue of the sky,with its zigzag dividing the wood. It is early autumn and red leaves have already carpeted the ground. But some epiphytes keep forestgreen. While the moisture abounds, a thick layer of moss covers over the sizeable stone at the fringe of the brook and the fallen tree trunk at the bottom of the scene. Another long trunk traverses the brook, just like a bridge for little animals. But the short branches on it are like thorns, making it less friendly. Several stumps of trees have flat surfaces, indicating lumberjacks were here. Maybe men have left the wood for thanksgiving. So the quietness returns to this lovely wood.
