    part one vacabularies

If you stride somewhere, you walk there with quick, long steps.

原文:I continued to stride powerfully onto the dock.

He turned abruptly and strode off down the corridor.

You use very with nouns to emphasize the importance or seriousness of what you are saying.

2,very : used to emphasize that you are talking exactly about one particular thing or person

Onto the boat, Jennifer,' I ordered, pointing to it with the very hand that held the letter, which she didn't even notice.

History is taking place before your very eyes.

3, kick out  短语动词 See also:kick;强使离开;赶走 To kick someone out of a place means to force them to leave it.

Hey - Harvard Law School! Have you been kicked out?'

Her family kicked her out.

    4, go overboard

eg: Louise went overboardand bought an expensive home computer.

    2,另一个意思是“过份” 、“走极端”(to do something too much)。

eg: You can play jokes on someone , but take care not to let it go overboard.

    3,还可以做事“过份狂热”(do something with excessive enthusiasm)。

eg: Some teachers have gone overboard for the new methods without considering their practical use.

Hey,' I said in one of my wittier observations, 'you went overboard for me.'

Someone who is cocky is so confident and sure of their abilities that they annoy other people.

Don't be too cocky,' she replied. 'Third is still only third.'
