一、文本
The need for new thinking does not mean ignoring the lessons of history. The 21st century brings some challenges not seen before, most obviously and most worryingly climate change. But inequality of opportunity and the discontent it drives are not new. Nor is the unhealthy concentration of wealth and power. That is why it is worth dusting off 19th-century ideas, from vigorous competition policy to the taxation of land and inheritance.

二、段落解读
《经济学人》在 2018 年 9 月 25 日出了一期“175 周年纪念刊”，封面主题是“a manifesto for renewing liberalism”（重塑自由主义的宣言）。这期里面的The Economist at 175 一文长达 10 页，共有 6 部分，应该是《经济学人》历史上最长的文章之一。段落选自文章第 6 部分，为便于临摹，段落有微调。
全段共 5 句，为历史、社会、政治等主题写作提供了一个参考模板。第 1 句写新思考和学习历史教训并不矛盾；第 2 句写新的历史社会环境下的挑战；第 3、4 句写一些看似是新的问题只是”新瓶装旧酒“而已；第 5 句回到参照历史的意义。
这段话仿写难度较大，因此我们这次将学习重点放在句式临摹和句子背诵上。
