October 18th will see the birthday of my best friend, Dr Fanrong Wei, a PhD majoring in power system and specializing in several different topics, including Power system protection and Artificial intelligence. Though this date may go unnoticed in Wechat, the prestigious Chinese network app, because of his modesty and low-key patterns, I believe a short description of this excellent person is interesting for this essential date.
As a scholar growing up in Hubei province, Dr Wei remembers not having enough wealthy childhood life. As an adult as well as a PhD candidate in Huazhong University of science and technology, he hustled his way into the research circle, writing a lot of research papers published in many prestigious international scientific journals relating to different topics and successfully accomplishing several projects which are of paramount importance, financially supported by top companies in the field like State Grid. Yet it is writing and submitting his great PhD dissertation about the flexible and effective locally-accommodating strategies of renewable energy generation that will put him on track to become a first-class professor in power system field in a prestigious university.
No one can avoid being influenced by a strange and newly joined host environment. Much as we may pride ourselves on our ability to suit it, it may not be an extremely easy work like the walk in a park, for suiting a new environment is time-consumption. In his efforts to restart his research in a quick and effective way, Dr Wei has accomplished his first paper in just one month, which is efficient and beyond recognition. As he will continue to work hard on his birthday, I am deeply impressed. Besides, as one of his best friend, I can hold a positive and optimistic attitude towards the future of power system research in China, since Dr Wei can help remain competitiveness of the Chinese research circle in that field.
