With rising popularity, self-development has become a popular “hobby” for many.
And unfortunately, this is about as deep as it goes for most people.
Self-development content is often just treated as a source of entertainment and instant gratification.
It soothes the pain of inaction and mediocrity. Investing a lot of mental energy into self-development is fairly easy, but taking consistent daily action is hard. And the unfortunate truth is that knowledge doesn’t really stick unless you implement it to form new neural connections.
But more importantly, you simply get too much satisfaction from learning about how you can live a better life. It almost tricks you into thinking that you are already progressing, even though you might not. What most people will do is just watch countless videos about those topics, without really putting anything into action.
This is basically just procrastination.
Because unless you put what you learn into action, NOTHING will change. So let this be a reminder to do something, anything really, right now. Stop learning for a moment and start implementing.
