    1. It's every archaeologist's dream to find a lost civilization, to make some huge discovery, to find artifacts no one else has laid a hand on in mi…. You might think that this never happens any more, given all the research in archaeology that's been done.

    2. But in the late twentieth century, archaeologists discovered the remains of a sophisticated people whose settlement might have been the hub of a civilization few people even thought existed.

    3. Over time, generations of building and rebuilding in the same area would result in a large hill the size of a city. Careful excavation and documentation of layers in a mound can reveal a wealth of information about the everyday life of a people in a settlement over many periods of occupation.

    4. There was even an elaborate canal system and a lot of very intricate jewelry. All these findings seem to indicate that they are the remains of an ancient civilization that was every bit as advanced as other more famous civilizations of the time, like those in Egypt, or, or China.

    5. In the mirror mark test, researchers put a mark on the animal where the animal is unable to see it or smell it or feel it, like on the side of their head, without looking in the mirror. Now, typically, when animals first see themselves in the mirror, they think they are seeing another animal.

    6. All these influences have a negative impact on the spirit bear's very existence, which is made all the more fra…by the fact that reproduction among these bears has always been disappointingly low.

    7. The government is now requiring logging companies to adopt a better logging method, which is a positive step. However, these measures alone may not be sufficient to ensure a healthy population of the spirit bear in the future.

    8. As you know, sharks have a reputation for being very dangerous creatures,… of injuring or killing humans, and I'd like to talk about sharks in Australia. Sharks are rather large fish, often growing to over ten meters and the longest sharks caught in Australia have reached sixteen meters.

    9. In Australia, where people spend a lot of time at the beach, the government has realized that it must prevent sharks from swimming near its beaches. As a result, they've introduced a beach-netting program. Beach-netting, or mishing, involves setting large nets parallel to the shore.

    10. The greatest threat to the bear’s existence is the loss of its habitat. Over many years, logging companies have stripped the land by cutting down a large number of trees. In addition, they have built roads which have fractured the areas where the bear usually feeds, and many hib… sites have also been lost.
