There is a romantic story for the origin of this festival. Mr. Niu is a honest and hard-working guy in the village. He ran across Ms Zhi when she slipped away from the heaven. They fell in love and had two lovely babies. But Mother of the heaven got angry and called back Ms. Zhi. Mr. Niu, carrying two babies with him, chased after his wife to the heaven. However, Mother of the heaven made a Milky Way in front of him to stop him. The couple deep in love can only see each other from afar. The birds were moved by their love and decided to help them. On the 7th July, thousands of birds composed a bridge across the Milky way，so that Mr. Niu and Ms. Zhi can meet on this day each year. That is the Double Seventh Festival.
Nowadays, long-distance lovers can talk through telephone, and see each other through video. And transportation is more convinent than in the ancient story. Wish every Jack has his Jill.
