    make out 和 hook up有什么区别?

"Make out" means intense kissing, often with touching, the kind that can often lead to sex, but not always.

"Hook up" means to have sex with someone, usually with someone you are not in a relationship with (casual sex). "Hook up" used to mean to be in a relationship with someone, e.g. "Mary and John hooked up" = "Mary and John are now dating", and sometimes still means that, but the most common usage today is sex.
