张爱玲在《爱》中有这么一段叙述：那年轻人于千万人之中遇见你所遇见的人，于千万年之中，时间的无涯的荒野里，没有早一步，也没有晚一步，刚巧赶上了，那也没有别的话可说，惟有轻轻地问一声：噢，你也在这里吗?那场景是多么的美啊！

未曾相逢先一笑，初会便已许平生。

只缘感君一回顾，使我思君朝与暮。

Fair is my love, when her fair golden hairs

美哉，我的爱人，蓦然回首

With the loose wind ye waving chance to mark;

她美丽的金发在风中飘舞；

Fair, when the rose in red cheeks appears;

美哉，当她红润的脸颊玫瑰吐艳，

Or in her eyes the fire of love does spark.

当她双眸中有爱的火花闪现。

Fair, when her breast, like a rich-laden bark,

传达着优雅温柔调皮的情意。

The rest be works of nature's wonderment,

余者皆为造化神工，

But this the work of heart's astonishment.
