    每周一段

    背景:一些家长和学生认为金融专业就业好工资高,但并不是这样的。

    模仿原文句式版

Many Chinese students and parents have formed an unrealistic picture of majoring in finance. They sometimes imagine the financial industry to be a treasure land where easy money abounds. Life for finance majors is simple and good. High-paying jobs are easy to land and you never need to worry about getting fired. The other side of the picture is quite the opposite. The financial industry is brutal. You either climb your career ladder without scruple or wait to be replaced be by newcomers. Perhaps there is an element of truth in both these pictures, but few of us have had the opportunities to find out.

Some Chinese students and parents have taken it for granted that majoring in finance means a promising future for everyone. Four years of college education provides a solid expertise and connections. Upon graduation, jobs with five-digit initial salaries can be easily found from different securities companies or even investment banks. But this is far-fetched. The truth is that what they learn at school usually turns out to be impractical and their connections can only get them as far as getting an interview. The financial industry is also more merciless than meets the eye. Hard-working as you may be, well-connected peers will probably get promoted first. And those who cannot shift their obligations from undertaking assigned tasks to acquiring new customers after a certain age will soon be replaced by young people with greater stamina. Therefore, prospective university students should instead try to take a close look at themselves and choose their majors based on what they are passionate rather than what other people say.
