Dear graduates, ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I am very glad to be here to see that after several years of hard work and efforts, the students have made satisfactory answers to their study life in Xidian and China.
As a teacher and also a senior schoolmate of Xidian University, I would like to extend my warm congratulations on your graduation.
Of course, graduation not only means the end of a study period, but also means the beginning of a new life stage. At the beginning of this new stage of life, I have a few words for my schoolmates. I hope these words will do help in your future life.
Firstly, I hope that you will keep your positive attitude towards life, work and study hard in the future. The real pleasant life is not to lie down and rest, but to stay focused on the work you are interested in and go ahead all the way. Let's take a look at the Football World Cup being held in Russia now. The teams that can keep playing all the way, may be a little tired physically, actually are happy and relaxed. The teams who can only watch TV at home, of course, including the Chinese football team, have greater psychological pressure. Therefore, paying attention to the business you are interested in is the best way to relieve pressure.
Secondly, try to be broad-minded. Confucius of China once said, "a gentleman is calm and broad-minded, but a villain is always in a state of anxiety." People who are broad-minded may lose some temporary small immediate interests, but will enjoy inner happiness and peace. The essence of our life lies in our inner happiness. If we lose our inner happiness, our life will lose its original purpose. There is currently a very fashionable saying in China: " Remain true to our original aspiration". What is the original aspiration？ Be kind and generous and lead a carefree life. This is the actually the status of the mind of a baby, so we call it original aspiration.
Thirdly, we should treat other people, the society and even the earth we live on with an equal mind. The environments surrounding us are all created by ourselves. If you smile to others, you will get smile. If you respect others, you will be respected. If you keep a clean habit, you will live in a clean environment. If you protect nature and keep a low carbon life, you will enjoy clean water, green mountains and fresh air.
Finally, after your graduation, you may go back to your country, or you may stay in China or go to other countries to continue your study. Wherever you go, you will always be a graduate of the Xidian University, and you will always be recognized as a Xidianer. You will be our pride. You are welcome to come home and have a look at Xidian in the future.
