The story goes that the Handsome Monkey King received his dharma name, which filled his heart with joy. He bowed to the Patriarch Bodhi to express his gratitude. The Patriarch then instructed the others to take Wukong outside the second gate and teach him the duties of sweeping, proper conduct, and social interactions.

The celestial beings followed the instructions and led Wukong outside. Upon reaching the outer gate, Wukong bowed to his senior brothers and settled into his lodging in the corridors.

The next morning, he began learning with his senior brothers—practicing speech and etiquette, discussing scriptures, practicing calligraphy, burning incense, and meditating in tranquility. This became his daily routine. During his free time, he swept the floors, tended the gardens, cared for the flowers and trees, gathered firewood, stoked the stove, and fetched water. He ensured that everything needed in the cave was well-prepared. Wukong remained in the cave for six to seven years.

One day, the Patriarch ascended the altar and sat in a high position, gathering all the celestial beings to begin teaching the Great Way. Indeed:

Heavenly flowers fell in abundance, and golden lotuses blossomed on the ground. The profound teachings of the Three Vehicles were masterfully expounded, with all the subtle truths of the myriad dharmas encompassed within.

The Patriarch gently waved his fly whisk, speaking words as precious as pearls, his voice resonating like thunder across the nine heavens.

He spoke of the Dao, expounded on Chan, naturally integrating the principles of the three schools.

With a single word, he illuminated the truth, guiding them toward the profound essence of non-birth.

Sun Wukong was listening from the side, so overjoyed that he scratched his ears and cheeks, his face beaming with delight. He couldn't help but dance around with excitement. Suddenly, the Patriarch noticed him and called out, "Wukong, why are you dancing around like a madman instead of listening to my lecture attentively?"

Wukong replied, "Master, I was sincerely listening. When I heard your wondrous words, I was so overwhelmed with joy that I couldn't help but leap about. Please forgive me!"

The Patriarch said, "Since you can recognize the wondrous sound, tell me, how long have you been in this cave?"

Wukong answered, "I'm a bit muddled and don't know the exact time. I just remember that when there was no fire under the stove, I often went behind the mountain to gather firewood. There, I found a mountain with good peach trees, and I ate my fill of peaches seven times."

The Patriarch said, "That mountain is called Rotten Peach Mountain. Since you've eaten peaches there seven times, it must have been seven years. Now, what kind of Dao do you wish to learn from me?"

Wukong responded, "I leave it entirely to your guidance, Master. Whatever Dao techniques you teach, I am eager to learn."

The Patriarch said, "Under the character 'Dao' there are 360 paths, and each of these paths can lead to true enlightenment. Which one would you like to learn?"

Wukong replied, "I leave it entirely to you, Master. I am willing to follow your guidance wholeheartedly."

The Patriarch said, "How about I teach you the Dao of the 'Technique' path?"

Wukong asked, "What is the Dao of the 'Technique' path?"

The Patriarch explained, "In the Technique path, you learn to summon spirits, use divination, and practice augury, which can help you understand how to seek good fortune and avoid calamity."

Wukong asked, "Will this lead to immortality?"

The Patriarch responded, "No! No, it won't."

Wukong then said, "I don't want to learn that! I don't want to learn that!"

The Master then said, "Shall I teach you the way of the 'Flow' character?"

Wukong asked, "What is the principle of the 'Flow' character?"

The Master replied, "The 'Flow' character encompasses the teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism, Yin-Yang School, Mohism, and Medicine, including reading scriptures, chanting Buddha's name, and rituals to invite deities and saints."

Wukong asked, "Can one achieve immortality this way?"

The Master answered, "If you wish for immortality, it's like 'setting a pillar in the wall.'”

Wukong asked, "Master, I don’t understand this slang. What does 'setting a pillar in the wall' mean?"

The Master explained, "It’s like building a house: to stabilize it, a pillar is placed between the walls. Eventually, when the house collapses, that pillar will also decay."

Wukong said, "In that case, it doesn’t last long. I won’t study it! I won’t study it!"

The Master said, "I'll teach you the Way of the 'Quiet' character, alright?"

Wukong asked, "What is the ultimate fruit of the 'Quiet' character?"

The Master replied, "This involves preserving grain and guarding against calamity, maintaining a state of purity and non-action, engaging in meditation and sitting, abstaining from speech and maintaining a vegetarian diet, or practicing sleeping skills, or standing postures, and entering meditative states, among other practices."

Wukong asked, "Can one achieve immortality through this?"

The Master said, "It's akin to 'bricks from kiln heads.'"

Wukong laughed and said, "Master, you even use common slang. What does 'bricks from kiln heads' mean?"

The Master replied, "Just like bricks and tiles formed at the kiln head, though they take shape, they haven't undergone the tempering of water and fire, and will turn into mud when exposed to heavy rain."

    Wukong said, "It's not a long-term solution. I won't learn it! I won't learn it!"

The Master said, "Shall I teach you the Way of the 'Moving' character?"

Wukong asked, "What is the Way of the 'Moving' character?"

The Master replied, "This involves actions and deeds, balancing yin and yang, using bows and crossbows, manipulating energy, using special methods, melting metal in a furnace, processing red lead, refining autumn stones, and consuming women's milk, among other practices."

Wukong asked, "Can one achieve immortality through this?"

The Master said, "Seeking immortality through this is like 'grasping the moon in the water.'"

Wukong responded, "Here we go again! What does 'grasping the moon in the water' mean?"

The Master explained, "The moon is in the sky, and its reflection is in the water; though you can see it, you cannot grasp it. In the end, it is all in vain."

Wukong said, "I won’t learn it! I won’t learn it!"

The master, upon hearing this, suddenly jumped down from the high platform, holding a ruler and pointing at Sun Wukong, said, "You monkey, you don’t learn this or that. What exactly do you want to learn?" With that, he walked up and struck Wukong on the head three times, then turned his back and walked inside, closing the central door behind him and leaving the crowd behind.

The listeners, frightened, all complained about Wukong, saying, "You troublesome monkey, you’re truly disrespectful! The master is teaching you the way, and you refuse to learn and even argue with him. Now you’ve angered him; who knows when you’ll get out of this!" The crowd harbored both complaints and disdain toward Wukong. However, Wukong didn't mind and only wore a forced smile. In fact, Wukong had already understood the master’s subtle hints, so he quietly endured and did not argue with others. The master’s three strikes were to make him meditate at midnight; walking inside and closing the central door was to have him enter through the back door for a secret teaching of the way.

That night, Wukong, along with the others, happily waited in front of the Three Star Cave for the night to fall. At dusk, everyone went to bed, and Wukong pretended to sleep, focusing on his breath and calming his mind. In the mountains, there was no sound of watches or signals to mark the hours, so Wukong was unsure of the time. He simply regulated his breathing until around midnight, when he quietly got up, put on his clothes, and carefully opened the front door. Avoiding the others, he stepped outside the cave and looked up.

At that moment: The moonlight was bright, and the cool dew chilled the air. The land in all directions was pure and free of dust. In the deep woods, birds rested quietly, while the stream at its source flowed gently. Fireflies danced, their light flickering, as a formation of wild geese flew through the clouds. It was the middle of the night, the perfect time to seek the truth and pursue the Way.

Wukong followed the familiar path to the back door and saw that it was half-open. Delighted, he said to himself, "The master remembered to teach me the Way, so he intentionally left the door unclosed." He then quietly approached, slipped through the door, and went straight to the master's bedside. He saw that the master was curled up, sleeping with his back turned. Not daring to disturb him, Wukong knelt before the bed.

After a short while, the master woke up, stretched his body, and recited to himself, "Difficult, difficult, difficult! The Way is most profound, never treat the Golden Elixir lightly. Without meeting a true master to impart the secret, words alone are wasted breath."

Wukong replied, "Master, your disciple has been kneeling here for a long time." Hearing Wukong's voice, the master immediately put on his robe, sat cross-legged, and shouted, "You monkey! Why aren't you sleeping in the front, and instead, come here to the back?" Wukong responded, "Master, you promised yesterday at the altar to teach me the Way through the back door at midnight, so I boldly came to kneel by your bedside."

The master was very pleased upon hearing this and thought to himself, "This monkey is truly a being born of heaven and earth! Otherwise, how could he have deciphered my hidden riddle?" Wukong said, "There is no one else here, only your disciple. I humbly ask you, Master, to show great mercy and teach me the way to immortality. I will never forget your kindness!" The master replied, "Since you are fated, I am willing to teach you. Since you've uncovered the hidden riddle, come closer and listen carefully; I will impart to you the wondrous way of immortality." Wukong bowed his head in gratitude, eagerly listening as he knelt by the bed.

The master said: "The profound and perfect teaching of both esoteric and exoteric methods lies in cherishing life, with no other words to add.

It is often said that the essence, energy, and spirit are the ultimate roots; one must carefully conserve them without leakage.

Without leakage, they are stored within the body. If you receive the path I transmit, you will naturally prosper.

Remembering the key formula brings many benefits; it can dispel evil desires and grant a sense of clarity.

With clarity, brightness shines pure, and one can enjoy the bright moon on the alchemical platform.

The moon hides the jade rabbit, the sun hides the crow, and naturally, the tortoise and serpent intertwine.

Intertwined, your essence and life are strengthened, and you can cultivate the golden lotus within the fire.

By reversing the five elements and gathering them together, once the work is complete, you can become a Buddha or an immortal."

At this moment, Wukong understood the root of the teachings, and a flash of insight appeared in his mind. He firmly memorized the key formula and gratefully thanked the master for his kindness. Then, he exited through the back door to observe the sky. He saw that the eastern sky was faintly white while golden light shone brightly in the west. He followed the original path back to the front door, gently pushed it open, and returned to his original sleeping spot. Intentionally making noise with the bed, he called out, "It's morning! It's morning! Time to get up!" Everyone else was still sound asleep, completely unaware that Wukong had already gained great benefit. That day, Wukong went about his day as usual, blending in while secretly regulating his breath.

Time flew by, and three years passed. The master once again ascended the throne and began teaching the assembly. He spoke in parables and metaphors, discussing the external forms and appearances. Suddenly, he asked, "Where is Wukong?"

Wukong stepped forward, knelt down, and said, "Disciple is here."

The master asked, "What methods have you been practicing during this time?"

Wukong replied, "Recently, I have become quite proficient in the nature of the Dharma, and my foundation has gradually stabilized."

The master said, "Since your understanding of the Dharma is clear and your foundation is secure, you have already infused it into your divine body. However, be cautious of the 'Three Calamities' that may arise."

Wukong listened and pondered for a long time before asking, "Master, isn't there a mistake in what you said? I've often heard that those with high virtue and profound Tao live as long as heaven itself, that water and fire can harmonize, and no illness can arise. Why, then, would there still be the 'Three Calamities'?"

The master replied, "This is an extraordinary path: it seizes the creation of heaven and earth and taps into the mysteries of the sun and moon. After achieving the alchemical elixir, even spirits and deities cannot tolerate you. Although it grants extended youth and longevity, after five hundred years, heaven will send down a thunder calamity to strike you. You must see your true nature and clarify your mind to avoid it in advance. If you can avoid it, your lifespan will match that of heaven; if not, you will perish.

Another five hundred years later, heaven will send down a fire calamity to burn you. This fire is neither heavenly fire nor ordinary fire; it is called 'Yin Fire.' It will rise from the Yongquan acupoint in your body, burning through to the Niwan Palace. Your five internal organs will turn to ash, your limbs will decay, and all your centuries of hard cultivation will turn to illusion.

Then, after another five hundred years, heaven will send down a wind calamity to blow you away. This wind is not one of the east, south, west, or north winds; it is not a gentle breeze, a warm breeze, a golden breeze, or a cold wind; nor is it the wind of flowers, willows, pines, or bamboos. It is called the 'Resentful Wind.' It will blow into your six internal organs through the fontanel, piercing your dantian and nine orifices, causing your bones and flesh to disintegrate, and your body to fall apart. Thus, you must avoid each of these calamities."

Wukong listened, shivering with fear, and kowtowed in gratitude, saying, “I hope Master will show great mercy and teach me the method to avoid the three calamities. I will never forget your kindness.” The Master replied, “This method is not difficult, but it is unique to you and cannot be passed on to others.” Wukong asked, “I have a head on top and feet below, with nine orifices, four limbs, and six organs like others. How am I different?” The Master said, “Although you resemble a human, you lack the cheekbones.” It turned out that the monkey had a thin and pointed face. Wukong touched his face and laughed, “Master, there’s nothing to worry about! Although I lack cheekbones, I have this elemental bag, which can make up for it.”

The Master then said, “Very well. Do you wish to learn one type or more? There is one type called the Heavenly Talisman, which has thirty-six variations; another type called the Earthly Fiend, which has seventy-two variations.” Wukong replied, “I would like to learn more. I’ll choose the Earthly Fiend variations.” The Master said, “In that case, come closer, and I will teach you the incantations.” He then whispered the method in Wukong’s ear, which was a marvelous technique. Wukong, who was adept at understanding, immediately began practicing the incantations and mastered all seventy-two variations.

One day, the Master and his disciples were playing in front of the Three Stars Cave during the evening. The Master asked, "Wukong, have you mastered your skills?" Wukong replied, "Thanks to your grace, Master, my skills are now perfected, and I can ascend to the heavens." The Master said, "Show me your ascent."

Wukong demonstrated his abilities by jumping up and performing a few somersaults, rising about five or six yards above the ground, stepping onto the clouds, and flying for the duration of a meal, covering less than three miles back and forth, before landing in front of the Master. He clasped his hands and said, "Master, this is what it means to ascend and ride the clouds."

The Master smiled and said, "This is not really riding the clouds; it is more like climbing the clouds. As the saying goes, 'Immortals travel to the North Sea in the morning and to Cangwu in the evening.' If you can only fly less than three miles in half a day, even climbing the clouds would not count."

Wukong asked, "What does it mean to travel from the North Sea to Cangwu?" The Master replied, "An immortal who rides the clouds should start from the North Sea in the morning, travel through the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea, and then return to Cangwu. Cangwu is a colloquial term for the Zero Ridge of the North Sea. To truly ride the clouds, one must traverse all four seas in a single day."

Wukong sighed, "That is indeed too difficult!" The Master said, "There is nothing too difficult in this world, only those who lack determination." Wukong, hearing this, bowed deeply and said, "Master, 'One should strive to be thorough,' please have mercy and teach me this cloud-riding technique. I will never forget your kindness."

The Master said, "All immortals who ride the clouds need to leap into the air, but you are not using this method. When I saw you fly, you were jumping and pulling yourself up. Based on your current technique, I will teach you a method called the 'Somersault Cloud.'" Wukong bowed again and earnestly requested, and the Master then taught him a spell: "This cloud, just recite the spell and utter the true words while clenching your fist, shake your body, and jump up. With one somersault, you can fly 108,000 miles!"

The others laughed and said, "Wukong is truly fortunate! With this technique, he can be a courier, delivering messages and documents wherever he goes and always have food to eat!" The Master and disciples returned to their respective caves. That night, Wukong practiced the magic and learned the Somersault Cloud. From then on, he enjoyed boundless freedom and the beauty of eternal life.

One day, as spring passed and summer arrived, everyone gathered under the pine tree for a long discussion. Someone asked Wukong, "Wukong, what karmic fate brought you here? A few days ago, the Master whispered the method of transforming to avoid the three calamities—have you mastered it?"

Wukong smiled and replied, "To be honest, not only did the Master teach me, but I've also been diligently practicing day and night. I've mastered those transformations."

Everyone said, "This is a good time. Why don't you demonstrate it for us?"

Hearing this, Wukong perked up and proudly said, "Brothers, give me a challenge. What should I transform into?"

They replied, "How about transforming into a pine tree?"

Wukong formed a hand sign, recited an incantation, and with a shake of his body, he instantly turned into a pine tree.

Indeed, it was: A lush, evergreen pine, standing tall and straight, piercing the clouds, displaying a magnificent and elegant form. Not a trace of any demonic aura, its branches and trunk were as resilient as if they had withstood countless frosts and snow.

After seeing Sun Wukong's transformation, everyone clapped and laughed, saying, "Good monkey! Good monkey!" The laughter and commotion caught the Master's attention. The Master quickly came out, leaning on his cane, and asked, "Who is making all this noise here?"

Upon hearing the Master's voice, everyone immediately stopped laughing, straightened their clothes, and stepped forward to pay their respects. Wukong also returned to his original form and blended into the crowd, saying, "Master, we were just gathering here to discuss things, and there was no outsider making noise."

The Master scolded, "You all are shouting and laughing, acting nothing like cultivators! A cultivator loses focus with just a word, and gossip starts as soon as the tongue moves. How can you be laughing and making noise here?"

The group replied, "We wouldn't dare to hide the truth from you. Just now, Sun Wukong performed a trick. We asked him to turn into a pine tree, and he really turned into a pine tree. That's why we cheered and praised him, which must have startled you. Please forgive us."

The Master said, "You all may disperse." Then he called Wukong over and asked, "What nonsense are you up to, turning into a pine tree? Is this the kind of skill you should be showing off in front of others? If you see someone with such skills, wouldn't you ask to learn from them? Likewise, if others see your skills, they will surely ask you. If you fear causing trouble, you might teach them; if you don't, they might harm you. At that point, your life would be in danger."

Wukong kowtowed and pleaded, "I only ask for your forgiveness, Master!"

The Master said, "I won't blame you, but it's better if you leave now."

Hearing this, Wukong's eyes filled with tears, and he asked, "Master, where should I go?"

The Master replied, "Go back to where you came from."

Wukong immediately understood, saying, "I came from the Water Curtain Cave on Flower Fruit Mountain in the Ao Lai Country of the Dongshen Shenzhou Continent."

The Master said, "Quickly return there to protect your life. If you stay here, it will only lead to disaster!"

Wukong, accepting his fate, said, "Master, I've been away from home for twenty years. Though I miss my children and grandchildren, I have stayed here out of gratitude for your deep kindness and have not dared to leave."

The Master replied, "What kindness? Just make sure you don't cause trouble and drag me into it!"

Seeing no other choice, Wukong reluctantly bid farewell and parted from the others. The Master said, "Once you leave, you will undoubtedly cause trouble and stir up chaos. No matter what mischief or violence you commit, you are forbidden to say that you are my disciple. If you so much as utter half a word about it, I will know. When that time comes, I will skin you alive, grind your bones, and banish your soul to the deepest hell, where you will never escape from eternal suffering!"

Wukong replied, "I dare not mention my Master. I will simply say that I learned everything on my own."

Wukong thanked his Master, then immediately transformed and leapt onto his Somersault Cloud, heading straight back to the Eastern Sea. In less than an hour, he could already see the Water Curtain Cave of Flower Fruit Mountain.

The Handsome Monkey King thought to himself, "When I left, my body felt heavy; now upon my return, I am light and agile. In this world, few are willing to pursue ambition; only through cultivation can one attain enlightenment."

"Back then, crossing the sea was fraught with difficulty, but today's journey home is effortless and smooth."

"My master's admonitions still echo in my ears, and in the blink of an eye, I have already reached my familiar homeland."

Wukong descended from the cloud and headed straight for Mount Huaguo. As he walked along, he suddenly heard the sorrowful cries of cranes and monkeys. He called out, "Children, I'm back!"

From the cliffs, among the flowers, and in the trees, countless monkeys of all sizes jumped out and surrounded the Handsome Monkey King, bowing and crying out, "Great King, you're finally back! Why were you gone for so long? We've been waiting for you every day, like parched people longing for water. Recently, a demon has been oppressing us, trying to seize our Water Curtain Cave. We fought with all our might, but he took our possessions and captured many of our kin. We've been sleepless, guarding our home day and night. Thankfully, you've returned! If you had delayed any longer, our cave might have been taken by him!"

Wukong was furious upon hearing this and said, "What kind of demon dares to act so brazenly? Tell me everything, and I'll go find him and take revenge."

The monkeys bowed and said, "Great King, the demon calls himself the Chaos King and lives to the north."

Wukong asked, "How far is it from here to his lair?"

The monkeys replied, "He moves like the wind, sometimes as cloud, sometimes as mist, sometimes as wind, rain, thunder, or lightning. We don't know the exact distance."

Wukong said, "If that's the case, you needn't worry. Stay here and play, and I'll go find him!"

The Handsome Monkey King leaped into the air, somersaulting as he flew straight north. There, he saw a towering mountain, truly perilous and imposing.

On the mountain:"The peaks stood tall and sheer, while deep ravines plunged into shadow. Sharp cliffs pierced the clouds, and the deep valleys seemed to lead directly to the underworld. On both sides, flowers and trees competed in beauty, and groves of green pines and bamboo thrived. To the left, dragons lay calm and tame; to the right, tigers rested peacefully on the ground. Iron oxen plowed the fields, and golden coins were sown like seeds. Rare birds called out, and a crimson phoenix stood beneath the rising sun. The stone cliffs were smooth, reflecting the clear waves, and the breathtaking scenery filled one with awe. Though there are countless famous mountains in the world, such beauty here remains everlasting, unchanged through all four seasons."

The Handsome Monkey King was silently admiring the scenery when he suddenly heard voices. He descended the mountain to investigate and discovered that just beyond the steep cliff was the entrance to the Filthy Water Cave. Outside the cave, a few little demons were dancing, but upon seeing Wukong, they immediately fled. Wukong called out, "Don't run! Tell me, where is your Chaos King? He has repeatedly bullied my children, and I've come here specifically to settle the score with him!"

The little demon hurried into the cave and reported, “Master, it’s not good!” The Chaos King asked, “What happened?” The little demon replied, “There is a monkey outside claiming to be the lord of the Flower-Fruit Mountain Water Curtain Cave. He said you have repeatedly bullied his children and has come here specifically to confront you.”

The Chaos King laughed and said, “I’ve heard that the monkeys said a great king went off to practice. It must be him who has arrived now. What did he look like, and what weapons did he have?” The little demon said, “He had no weapons. He was bare-headed, wearing a red robe, a yellow sash, and black boots. He looked neither like a monk nor a Taoist immortal, and he was shouting at the gate empty-handed.”

The Chaos King responded, “Get my armor and weapons!” The little demon quickly brought them. The Chaos King donned his armor, took up his sword, and led the other demons out, shouting, “Who is the lord of the Water Curtain Cave?”

Wukong looked up and saw the Chaos King: “He wore a black metal helmet that gleamed in the sunlight; his body was draped in a dark robe that billowed in the wind. He had on black iron armor tightly strapped with leather strips and wore ornate boots, presenting a commanding military posture. His waist was as wide as ten spans, and he stood three zhang tall, wielding a gleaming sword. Known as the Chaos King, his fierce appearance was truly terrifying.”

The Monkey King shouted loudly, "This damned demon, with eyes so big, can't you see me, the Great Sage?" The Chaos King, seeing him, laughed and said, "You're less than four feet tall and only thirty years old, and you have no weapon. How dare you be so arrogant and come to challenge me?"

Wukong cursed, "You damn demon, it seems you're blind! If you think I'm small, it's not hard to become big. And if you think I have no weapon, my hands can reach the moon in the sky! Don't be afraid; take a punch from me!" With that, he leaped into the air and threw a powerful punch at the Chaos King's face.

The Chaos King blocked the punch and said, "You're so small, and I'm so tall. If you want to fight with your fists, I'll use my knife. Killing you would be too easy and might bring ridicule. Let me put down my knife and fight you with fists and feet instead."

Wukong agreed, "That's right, good man! Come on!" The Chaos King put down his stance and prepared to fight. Wukong quickly moved in, and they began to battle fiercely. Punches and kicks flew, and the fight was intense. The Demon King's long punches were powerful, but Wukong's short punches were even stronger. The Demon King was hit in the ribs and groin, and he retreated, grabbing a large steel knife to chop at Wukong’s head. Wukong swiftly dodged the blow.

Seeing the Chaos King’s ferocity, Wukong immediately used his cloning technique. He plucked a hair from his body, chewed it up, and blew it into the air, shouting "Transform!" Instantly, three or four hundred small monkeys appeared and surrounded the Chaos King.

After obtaining an immortal body, a person can transform at will. Ever since Wukong practiced Dao and became immortal, his body had 84,000 hairs, each capable of transforming according to his wishes. These little monkeys were agile and quick; the Chaos King's sword couldn't cut them, and his spear couldn't harm them. They jumped around, surrounding the Chaos King—some clung to him, some pulled him, some crawled under him, and others grabbed his legs. A swarm of little monkeys kicked and hit the Chaos King, trapping him in the middle.

Seizing the opportunity, Wukong grabbed the Chaos King's sword and, with a single strike, split his head in half. He then led the small monkeys into the cave, where they wiped out all the other demons, big and small. Wukong shook his hairs, recalling them back to his body, only to find that some of the monkeys hadn't returned. It turned out that these were the ones the Chaos King had captured from the Water Curtain Cave.

Wukong asked, "How did you get captured here?" About thirty to fifty small monkeys tearfully replied, "Ever since you left to become immortal, we've been oppressed by this Chaos King for the past two years. He captured us and brought us here. Look, aren't those things from our cave? The stone basins and bowls were all taken by him."

Wukong said, "Since they belong to us, take everything back." He then set fire to the demon's cave, burning everything to ashes. Afterward, he told the monkeys, "Let's go back home."

The monkeys replied, "Great King, when we were brought here, we only felt the wind in our ears and suddenly found ourselves in this place. We don't know how to get back."

Wukong said, "That was his sorcery, but there's no need to worry! I have mastered all kinds of magic now. Just close your eyes and don't be afraid!"

The Monkey King recited a spell, rode a gust of wind, and descended from the clouds. He called out, "Children, open your eyes!" The monkeys opened their eyes and found themselves standing on solid ground, recognizing their homeland. Overjoyed, they all ran toward the familiar path leading to the cave. The monkeys inside gathered together, lined up in ranks, and bowed to the Monkey King. They prepared wine and fruits to welcome and congratulate him, eagerly asking how he had defeated the demon and rescued the captured monkeys. Wukong recounted the story in detail, and the monkeys praised him endlessly, saying, "Great King, you went to that place and actually learned such incredible skills!"

Wukong then said, "When I left you all, I drifted across the Eastern Sea and reached the Southern Continent, where I learned to take on a human form and wear these clothes. I wandered for eight or nine years but didn't find the true way. Later, I crossed the Western Sea to the land of the Western Continent, where I searched far and wide until I finally encountered an ancient master who taught me the true method for living as long as the heavens, the secret to immortality."

The monkeys, upon hearing this, all congratulated him, saying, "This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!" Wukong laughed and said, "There’s another piece of good news—I now have a surname." The monkeys asked, "Great King, what is your surname?" Wukong replied, "My surname is now Sun, and my Dharma name is Wukong." The monkeys, delighted, clapped their hands and said, "The Great King is Old Sun, and we are Second Sun, Third Sun, Tiny Sun, Little Sun—we’re all part of the Sun family, a nation of Suns, a whole brood of Suns!"

Everyone gathered around Old Sun, offering large bowls and small cups of coconut wine, grape wine, celestial flowers, and immortal fruits. It was truly a joyful family reunion. Ah, finally reunited with his kin, only waiting for the day to ascend to the ranks of the immortals!
