DAY EIGHT (Chapter 9-10)

Q1 How does Skeeter’s date end?

It ends like a disaster. Obviously, Stuart has zero interests in developing a relationship right now.

Q2 Why can’t Celia become friends with Holly’s group?

Celia's husband is Holly's ex-boyfriend, whom Holly is still in love with, or even adore.

DAY NINE (Chapter 11)

Q1 In which way does Aibileen agree to continue the interview with Skeeter?

Aibileen agrees that she will write her story on her own as she had the training and has been writing her prayers every night. 

Q2 What do you think of the story(fragmented) Aibileen tells that the injured white boy is sent to a colored hospital?

The story ends as expected. When I read the beginning, I know what would happen. No doctor in the colored hospital would have a look at the white boy.

DAY ELEVEN (Chapter12-13)

Q1 What is Minny’s attitude towards Skeeter like when she first accepts the interview?

She threw out waves of anger at Skeeter and is doubtful at Skeeter's motivations.

Q2 Why does Skeeter finally agree to go on a date with Stuart again?

Stuart is sincere and expresses a humble attitude which impresses Skeeter.

DAY THIRTEEN (Chapter14-16)

Q1 Why is the bus Aibileen rides being checked the night she works late?

Leefort asked her to work late, and at night a horrible murder happened. Policeman armed up and checked every pass-by to prevent the act of revenge. 

Q2 How does Skeeter dispel Hilly’s suspicion of the satchel?

Skeeter explained that she just read the laws, but has no intention to change them. Then she played a trick and expressed worries about Hilly and her husband's campaign.

Q3 How does Yule May react to Aibileen’s invitation?

Yule is reluctant to accept the interview because she is working hard to save up for her boys' tuition.

My thoughts:

I felt quite depressed cause I was calculating adverse incidents and feelings while reading this part. Skeeter is struggling herself and pushing Aibileen to participate in her projects for her ambition. At least, at this point, I don't feel she is doing this project for justice or because of her empathy with the colored community. All I could feel is conflicting thoughts and doubts. Aibileen obviously will become the first one who agrees to work with Skeeter, with no doubts, considering the unforgettable tragedy in her life and her big heart. However, I think Skeeter made a hasty decision. She didn't think through the consequences from Aibileen's position. I have a prediction that whoever participates in Skeeter's project would encounter certain difficulties, one way or another. No backup plan and no safety net would put Aibileen at huge risks if the whole thing was exposed. Nothing turns out good in this part. I eagerly expect a turning point in the next chapters.
